They should be enjoying their sim, but obviously it's not enjoyable enough to keep them from trolling X-Plane forums. Dare you offer any criticism of the sim (no matter how well thought out), and you'll be instantly put down and bashed by the gang mentality that seems to be building. I've seen some pretty bad threads spawning up about X-Plane (and P3D) in the MFS forum (as well as on X-Plane.org). The entire "my sim vs your sim" is extremely childish that it makes me cringe seeing people get so worked up and emotional over it, especially people you'd consider more seasoned in this world 🙂. I'd say "Grow up", but I fear it's probably the kids who are better behaved 🤪 I personally hope the X-Plane community doesn't change. It's had somewhat a reputation of being "toxic", but this is nothing compared to what I've seen over the past few days. For many people, the simulator is more than just the "simulator", but it's also the community behind it that keeps it attractive... I'd hate to see that lost Either way, moving forward, let's please just keep this forum about X-Plane. If people wish to troll, then I'd suggest they take it elsewhere as it simply won't be tolerated. I'm trying to put down what I want to say, but I realize there's no point. Trolls will be trolls. August 20, 20205 yr Hi Tony, first let me say that you're the most level headed person I've ever encountered on any forum, I've never read the slightest bit of toxicity from you. The same can't be said for other people, including other mods and also including me who often bring out my worst part on here... 3 hours ago, tonywob said: @GoranM @Janov Dare you offer any criticism of the sim (no matter how well thought out), and you'll be instantly put down and bashed by the gang mentality that seems to be building. I thought I was the only one noticing that. I've honestly never seen something like that, worse than anything I've seen on P3D or XP forums (and those have had sometimes their toxic moments). It's totally putting off for anyone who'd want to post there... I don't think it's even good for MFS itself. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

The entire "my sim vs your sim" is extremely childish that it makes me cringe seeing people get so worked up and emotional over it, 🤪 Fully agree on that. There were some X vs FS threads in here and it was good that they were closed as soon as the topic railed off. I personally would prefer to not allow any threads at least for some time - regarding comparisons. I guess some would see this as an offense of their freedom of speech. The best thing is defenately keeping out of such comparisons, no matter if both sides are right, in the end its nonsense. The only sense would be for practical reasons, if one has to decide which sim to choose from. But 95% of all posts are just comparisons for pure egoism. Basically like people beeing trapped in a circle. Perhaps this is the way how society changes. I hope not. Edit: As X-Plane moves on, really looking forward to the future of XP. X-Plane 11 sets the best basis for a new sim, as physics are best in class, so there likely a promising future for XP and improvements that will be made for example in the graphics. Edit #2: Its likely an already discussed topic, but this shows to me what these kind of people complaining and fighting each other are capable of doing: YouTube. Edited August 20, 20205 yr by BigDee
August 20, 20205 yr Above all, and I'm on an MFS-only journey right now for the good and for the bad ( simply because I can't cope with more than one game at the same time ), it's a totally blind way of comparing things. Heck! It's atrociously evident that MFS as beautiful as it looks in many aspects, and with as much potential as it surely has if development continues, is lagging behind in basic features that other flight simulation games provide already, not to count the fact that add-ons with "study-level" grade haven't yet been made available. So, even from a practical pov, a reasonable (as opposed to "extremist") simmer could, at least, keep using and enjoying his other flight simulation games given the fact that they can still provide experiences not yet possible with MFS. But I myself have felt the temptation to act in a silly way, and even worst, have myself acted in a silly way regarding my toys, even recently with MFS vs XP, and the only reason I find is so basic that I feel ashamed to recognize that I've been there and done that - a desperate/obsessive need to justify myself that my option is OK... enlarged to a degree that turns into some kind of blind chain of attacks to features or limitations of the other toy I desperately need to convince myself I no longer want to use. Its OK to get bored of something and move on. What I like - love about xplane isn't the good graphics, the flight model, or the amazing planes. Its the tools it comes with, the flexibility to just "play" getting things exactly how I want, and the hard work by others behind it that mean from a little bit of drag and drop I can create awesome things that I never could on my own. If it wasn't for these things I would have gotten bored of xplane long ago, would still use it a little for keeping current and practice and stuck solely with CSGO and the PS4/PSVR for fun time. But it does have a very powerful, and IMO good / unique so far in features among desktop civil flight simulation games, flight model, and again the tools to build over it using plane maker and airfoild maker. In this particular aspect it is still ahead of the competition at least in as far as defaults go. I always found this "looks" comparison flawed for exactly this reason. Yes I am hyped for the makeover in looks pencilled in as XP12. XP scenery is a good few years old now and built for the lowest common denominator back then (1GB vram) I was never hyped or even remotely interested (beyond trying it for 5 minutes) for the google earth flight simulator nor so am I for microsofts attempt to do the same with bing. Meanwhile, people are flooding the discord servers for xp plugin devs and discussions posting msfs screenshots then getting mad that instead of being all like "oohhh orthophoto never seen that before" we instead start talking about spitfires, gliders, acrobatics and helicopters and how those who have started looking at the msfs sdk are starting to think they will never happen. That's a very common thing, it happens to me too and also to most people on these boards. There's no doubt that MFS can look spectacular and, at its best, better than any other sim. And on the other hand, with all the many good things XP has, XP also needs big advancements in some areas. Let's see what the future brings. I think good things for everyone. Also considering that personally I've abandoned the idea of a one-sim-only approach, maybe enjoying what each can offer better than others. Maybe for me it's much easier to do that though, considering that I spend close to nil in payware. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
