You would expect the release to be worlds different than the latest beta?

Honestly, I would. Because it is how it is in other software development areas.

Ok. Haven't got anything so far, though.

It has arrived only a minute ago.

I think they did address this in their twitch call a week or so ago. They updated their satellite pics and those were taken at high tide so it hid some of those features. They seemed to imply they will need to add them back manually so it will be bit by bit.

There is no tide in the caribbean (at least not that it would made a difference).

Hit and miss , here's Arcachon

Yes, they have to do that manually because Bing‘s water imagery is a mess in many places. That‘s the main reason. It’s not about tides. Wloch only mentioned this to give an example of why it can change (trailer vs release version). He was only talking about Arcachon Bay and not about the world in general.

There‘s a thread in the official forum with some nice screenshots of areas where we already have shallow waters. Some of the places seen in the trailers already have it, others don't.

Edit: I've just found this video on the official forum. I don't know if it's a preview or if all these places already look like that.

The question comes to mind about what happens if they fix the reefs and at a later point new Sat photo's are loaded...does that mean they have to be redone by hand? That is not going to happen. So we are told that the Sat data is going to be constantly updated and yet all this talk about things that have to be done by hand. Some where in those two promises some one is wrong. LOL

😅 good point.

It seems that the places from the video above (at least some of them) aren't ready yet:

Thanks for the shots.

Going to avoid those regions for now. Looks really unfinished without the water masks.

Notice how also the waves are looking better, more realstic in their preview shots? I don't think it's just more wind. The waves look less like a pattern and more defined, even from higher altitude.

If you want to visit places that have shallow waters and reefs, there‘s a thread in the official forum with some locations that already have that.

Waves on the open sea are the same as far as I can tell. The breaking waves on shores that you can see in the videos are part of Bing’s areal imagery, so they may look nice but they‘re static as far as I know.

Almost, yes.

But maybe it is just a bug. The trailer is from today, it's an official Microsoft trailer.
