Think of it this way.  Translate moves your butt.  Slide sidways, slide forward in your seat etc.   Camera Look moves your head.  Look up, down left right etc.  Camera Look is panning not snap so if you want to pan with your hat switch, use Camera Look...   View ALL camera options to find those commands.

Wow, These camera view settings and profiles are killing me. Seriously .

I did as above instructions, but when I pan inside the cockpit, the view just zoooooms  all the way from one side to the next. It does not pan slowly. And the Outside View is a mess. I move the "hat-switch" and the same.. moves left, right..etc to a set position. I cannot pan around the airplane slowly and Nielsen like I used to in P3D.

So frustrating. I don't understand why MS/Asobo made this camera views so absurd. 😡

Did you duplicate exactly my screenshot on the previous page? It shows exactly how it should look to get what you want.

Ohhh.. I did not do the Custom views not the Pilot "next views"

Hang in there, after about 8hrs it is possible to pan with the mouse, hat on Honeycome and hat on Thrusmaster throttle all doing various view and pans ect... I have about 20 views set up just for the C172, it's a major pain but it's doable. YT promoters make it look simple but it's not, after this I do miss chaseplane.

The annoying thing someone else pointed out is that you have to unbind the other controls or it will do two things at once. It will tell you what other controls are when you assign the new ones and then you have to find them and delete them. Annoying but only takes about 5 mins.

The most annoying part was not being able to save the bindings from the alpha.

Which post are you talking about?  I'd be curious to see this, but I don't see any setup videos in the pinned posts?

Ah ok yeah I've seen that.  Thought they were saying there was a general setup video pinned in this one 🙂

I've looked at those videos and guides. The problem is on my sim, I set the hat switch as a panning POV control exactly as the guides describe, but nothing happens when I press the hat switch. There is a note in the control menu about "UNLOCKED" or "LOCKED" and it advises to "TOGGLE LOCK/UNLOCK" to "unlock" but I cannot find this key or control.

I can't find the option to set my free look.. 🤦‍♂️😫 Also, when I adjust my seat higher it always resets to the default height after i look left or right. Is there any way to lock that?

Are you not seeing the options that I set? If so, change your FILTER to "ALL" so it shows all control options, then go to Cameras -> External Camera

Hi Cw, Sorry to disturb you, but can you please help on the above post? I set the Hat Switch exactly as you and others describe but it appears to be "locked" and doesn't work. How do I "unlock" the POV hat? In the controls menu it says something about "toggle unlock" but I cannot find it. Thanks so much.

I see two screenshots of the settings. I set everything in those to exactly how you have them. I'm just lost on the free look part for the hat. Or is it supposed to behave like freelook after what I set up?

First, please don't be sorry! This is new to all of us. Happy to help. Plus you've surely given to this community much more than you've taken. I'm happy to pay down some of that debt if I can!

I'm not in front of my sim right now, but I think that in the cameras menu that is accessed from the sim, so when you mouse up to the top of the screen in the sim, there's an icon of a video camera. If you click that, it will open a cameras menu and from there, I think you can unlock the view.

However, if that's not it or doesn't help, would you be able to take a screenshot of what you see in your controls menu and maybe that will help me figure out why it's locked?
