FPS v.s Stutters

Featured Replies

How do you monitor the FPS rate in MS2020 - and where can you change the maximum - if indeed that option exists?

I think it's very clear by now, and confirmed by various media outlets, that the release version of the sim has severe frametime (microstutter) issues on many of most widely adopted hardware configurations (i.e. i7 + 10xx GPU). There are hundreds of tips here in the forum, but they won't cure the issue. We have to wait for Asobo to push an update, maybe a hotfix. Seeing that MS pulled the plug at Alpha development stage, I wouldn't get my hopes up for this to happen very soon though.

Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

I have the latest drivers and a 2080 and I get around 45 FPS 2,000 ft or so above Manhattan.  I’ve been noticing I now get long stutter/hang that last about 10-20 seconds where the game is practically frozen.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Only happened twice so far but both times around the NYC area.  I just installed more RAM too so now have 32 GB.  Before I installed more RAM, the sim would crash when loading KJFK.  Never saw the freezing though that I can remember.  I don’t understand why the sim practically freezes sometimes.

What is your Object and Detail Level of Detail Slider settings?  Those set how far from the plane, the simulation loads higher level of detail objects and scenery mesh.  This can be very CPU intensive and will cause in some cases freezes, as the CPU is pegged at 100%, especially if you have a 4 core CPU.

I keep my Terrain LOD slider at 25 and Object LOD slider at 50 regardless of what other "settings" I set on the graphics.

I have an 8 core 9700k.  Frame limit is set to 60.  I have the graphics set to the Ultra preset.  Terrain LOD is 200,  same with object LOD.  Maybe I should scale those back? Lol

Hope this helps..

Pulled the plug?
