However, I personally have a few issues with the new system already. And it appears these issues aren't mentioned in any threads I've come across. 1. Unable to choose any options in the ATC menu if another aircraft is speaking. Makes for some slight delays in getting stuff done, even longer delays at busier airports. 2. Calling ground for pushback, jetways, baggage and fuel? I think its great they added these features in the base sim. But having to call ground? First, this is extremely inaccurate. You don't call the tower to ask for the jetway to meet the aircraft. And second, this just adds more things to slow down ATC communication. I'm hoping #1 gets fixed by asobo. And as for #2, I have a gut feeling it may be permanent. But hopefully with GSX in the future, we'll be able to avoid it. Anyone else find these issues annoying? I am glad to hear that traffic separation is improved. Lets hope for more upgrades in the future. -Tony@PVD Edit to add: Also is there no easy way to get the ATIS anymore? I suspect 2 is more as a way to access ground services kinda in an way that feels more integrated I guess vs having buttons or using menus.

But most of all, ai traffic and atc has not improved since the days of fs9 (17 years ago!)… poor ground handling, no separation on landing resulting in go arounds, atc vectoring the user into high terrain, etc. I think its too bad that this aspect of the game wasn't even touched during development at all. the only difference i've seen is a slightly different ATC UI, more generic sounding voices, and a few added functions such as requesting fuel. August 26, 20205 yr Use VATSIM (when they have fixed the simconnect module). You'll not learn anything from tinny, robotic, procedurally maladjusted ATC Edited August 26, 20205 yr by ErichB

August 26, 20205 yr "Use VATSIM" is not a solution to the MSFS ATC bugs, so those of you who think you're being funny or cute with that answer are not being helpful. These kinds of ATC bugs have existed for almost 20 years and should have already been fixed, especially in a brand new sim. August 26, 20205 yr I'm not inclined to use VATSIM or other online ATC services. But to each its own! Unfortunately we will be stuck with a half baked ATC if, MS/Asobo doesn't update or doesn't make available a dedicated ATC SDK, or at least ATC vars in the main SDK. This also applies to P3D. my 0.2 cts. Edited August 26, 20205 yr by RamonB Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

VATSIM ATC more often than not book their coverage in advance. There's always ATC. If the route is more important to you, you can wait until ATC covers your airport/route. If ATC is more important, you pick a route where there will be ATC.
August 29, 20205 yr Ah, thank you for the clarification! To use my specific example - you imply that the UK is covered and that there may be a chance that some insomniac VATSIM controller may be doing a night shift - assuming that they are UK based and not in Australia or some other country in the daytime! Of course I would have to book the coverage in advance. I may have to wait some time for that booking to happen. That makes sense to me. Cheers! 🍻 Note - I've never used multiplayer FSX:SE let alone tried out VATSIM, so I have learned something else new which may also be helpful to others.
