MarketPlace should carry Freewares also

Featured Replies

Just as the Apple Store has free and pay apps
the sim Marketplace should be a place for both

I maybe wrong but i suspect MS want to separate and just
put cash earining stuff in the marketplace

A big mistake, because many people will seldom look at it.
If it had freeware you always get inside to check and who knows, you might decide for a payware...

I agree but I don't think they will put freeware because it doesn't pay. There is also a cost in managing the addon, updating them etc.

My local grocery should have a section of free leftover food from my neighbors so I don't have to buy groceries if I want to eat.

Consumption or "consumerism" is a problem. Of course how much money you have will affect if its dangerous or not.

In our times, we have to be selective.

I am able to buy an iPhone so i can check Instagram. But buying something from the millions of Instagram ads? From App Store? Never.

Very Selective.

With flightsim the same thing. Bought the sim. Add-on? very selective. Perhaps a 707 or a 737, the rest, freeware or default

Apples to oranges comparison. App Store comparison is more accurate. You’d rather we have to download iPhone apps from online and figure out where to install them on our phones than be able to download them the same way we download paid apps?

Would be social, wouldn't it? At least when you could limit it to people who life on the street..., it doen't need to be presented in a nice way or promoted, but just leave it somewhere where only people notice it they depend on.

not to mention a legal liability for hosting the files...which means they'd have to check EVERYTHING for safety and compliance before putting it out there...too time consuming for them to bother without profit being possible. not to mention that the freeware section would dwarf their payware section and so they'd just end up competing with themselves which is daft.

The App Store comparison doesn't really work well either. You can view what is contained in the App Store on a website via your web browser, you can view it from the App itself. The MSFS Marketplace is viewable in-game and in-game only, it's a real limitation when something such as an open freeware database is considered.

It's all moot anyway as it wouldn't happen. Every submission would have to be checked and tested because it they would be hosting it. Then when hosting it any user would reasonably expect that Asobo/Microsoft would be the first port of call for support. Impossible to implement.

Yes in a way. As a freeware content creator I would be much more comfortable uploading my content to AvSim where I can be PM'ed with questions if needed, as well as support this or any other independent site of my liking, rather than see it go somewhere that is not going to go out of their way to support it, or worse yet potentially decide to close up shop as happened with ACES Studio.

That's actually a really good point.
