Remove heat rendering from engines

Featured Replies

Is it possible to remove (or at least reduce) the heat simulation from the engines? I find it quite disturbing when viewing the wingview as "passenger". I understand the purpose but the effect is overdone and destroys the lovely scenery.

+1 the graphical interferences are way too much. Some with the icing, never seen so much ice on an A320 in Reallife.

So let me get this straight. The realism of the atmosphere and jet engines is ruining the experience for ya?

Indeed. Hopefully they are ignoring the whines and focusing on the serious issues...

I basically agree with You; however over-realism simulation becomes unrealistic.
I wish I could show an image with icing on the 320. Not even a pair of Saturn V rocket engines could keep that thing flying. (To avoid NDA problems, I deleted my screen grabs)

The only thing that bugs me with the engine heat is it makes parts of the top of the wing look weird. It needs to be adjusted just a few feet back and it’s golden.

I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere...

I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere or perhaps a config file to edit. Of course this is not an official compaint to Asobo.

Jeeez...

Just to dial it down a notch or two in the settings or a configfile - that was my question. Sorry for the offence. I meant no disrespect...it's an awesome simulator etc.

And here I am, thinking these news effects are SO welcome.

Hey folks,

Thankfully, it's a simple tweak. In the aircraft.cfg is the following section (The below one if for the A320):

[EFFECTS]
wake = fx_wake
water = fx_spray
dirt = FX_ASOBO_TOUCHDIRT_BIG
concrete = FX_ASOBO_TOUCHCONCRETE_BIG
touchdown = FX_ASOBO_TouchDown_Big, 1
contrail = FX_ASOBO_CONTRAIL_BIG
effect.0 = FX_EXHAUST_LEFT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_BIG
effect.1 = FX_EXHAUST_RIGHT#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:2, boolean)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_BIG

Simply delete the exhaust effect lines and yer done 🙂

Great thanks! I agree with the original poster. Wing views dont look great with it on
