No approaches available in TBM?

First time flying the TBM tonight, EGGP to EGNM > selected low altitude airways and the sim chose a simple route EGGP POL EGNM.  Whilst up in the air I wanted to shoot the ILS, there are two touch panels below the MFD but when I went into PROC, select Approach it didn't display any approaches whatsover.  Is this not modeled in the TBM?

I was just making a quick TBM G3000 demo, so I also recorded what I see for EGNM procedures and frequencies in sim. I've included both videos below. However, I wonder, do you have ORBX EGNM? If so, the initial releases from ORBX for EGNM and EGLC dropped the procedures from the nav data. They patched this a couple days ago. If you installed through ORBX Central, you can launch that and update the scenery and one of the improvements is the procedures are back. However, if you bought from the marketplace, then I'm not sure if that's been updated yet - in fact, I'm not sure what the update process is for the marketplace.

This thread has the update notes:

Here's the video I quickly shot showing the EGNM procedures in case that's helpful. And below that is the general TBM video. Hope some or all of this helps. But, yes, the default nav systems leave a lot to be desired still, but they do have some basic capabilities...more than some have discovered.

Once in the air, flying anywhere,  There is no way to select  any other  airport approach in this 'sim'  using this  Garmin imitator, such as MS has provided. If any good third party can make a real G1000, G3000 or GTN 750, I will pay $200 for a working version.

Tell me I'M wrong !

You can manage and edit your flight plan en route in the 172.

I haven't been able to do this in the TBM, it just seems buggy and unfinished in that respect. For me at least.

But if I don't create a flightplan in advance, ( I'm a privateer type) there is no way I know of, in the 172, to select an approach to a last-minute  airfield selection.

You should be able to...

Rotate the big (outer) knob in the lower right of the MFD to NRST, use the small know to select Airport (though I think that's default), activate the cursor, use the big knob to scroll to the airport you want to go to, click the Direct-To button. Press AND HOLD the CLR button to return to the main map screen again. Then, click the PROC button and you should be able to select an approach. You need to activate the cursor, use the big/outer knob to move the cursor down to the approach list (if it doesn't default there) and then you can scroll through the procedures. The key here, in my experience, is you just need to LOAD it, not ACTIVATE it. That logic is broken as far as I can tell.

You best activate it because if you load then choose to activate it later, then deleting the arrival airport waypoint or holds as you would with the real Garmin your boinked!

I'll try that out. I found that if I just 'load' it actually flies the procedure as if I had activated, whereas if I activate, it sends me back to the beginning to start all over. I've been just using load and it seems to transition directly to the approach from the fix before the approach. But I'll test activating right away and see what happens then...

Affirmative! Aggravating!!!!

HotStart one of the best 3rd part add on for XP ever in my opinion. It's hardly comparable with any default

I flew a king air with a G1000 cockpit for a couple of years and once I got on to it just loved it. Last airplane I flew when I could get out of the office till I retired.

The Hotstart G1000 was a joy to fly and after the time in the king air it felt so familiar. Hopefully some day we will have something that good in MSFS2020.

*Thank you for those videos, CW Burnett. I now have a better understanding of the G3000 interface. Actually, the TBM is not too bad.

Watched videos above on G3000 interface

The real G1000 is a beautiful precision instrument. Sad MS, murdered it. 😉 Hope Jean Luc can up up with proper Garmins. I have faith. He's been guiding me for Decades in FS.

Same here.

Tonight I was doing a flight to Galveston (yes, chasing Hurricanes), and my route was up to the STAR (KDRI CESAN.CESAN4 KGLS). Upon getting the atis (completely different than real life) and joining the STAR I tried everything to load an approach.

Direct to didn’t work, not even deleting everything and adding the destination kgls and the initial fix as departure. On the approach page it listed KGLS but gave me the approaches and “transitions” for the departure airport! Nothing I did would change that, the same (wrong) approaches listed.

Worse is that I had a friend (also on a TBM) and he had the same exact issue!

Turned off fms nav and vectored myself for an ils on the wrong iap (26 kts tailwind). This is unacceptable.
