Black screen GPSs

Featured Replies

Has anyone else experienced their G100/gps displaying...nothing? i.e. a black screen? Yes the battery/avionics masters were ON. In fact this was in a ready to fly state. Happens with ALL aircraft.

And before bean sprout comes along and tells me to go to Zendesk, I've already raised a ticket! I have a little more faith in the people here tbh.

Did you make a change to the BaseInstrument.js file? Someone had posted a tip about getting some extra frames by changing a value in there. That might be the source of your issue.

I did, but I reverted to the original. It worked fine after the change back. Would Edge have anything to do with it do you suppose? I did some 'stuff' to stop Edge interfering with my life.

Not sure, I'm just commenting from my own experience with the BaseInstrument.js file as I had that same issue. Hope you can get it fixed.

Yes, I've experienced this too, only fixed by reloading the flight.

I had this happen once in the Cessna 172 and could never recreate it again.

Reloading the flight? I've loaded flight, saw no change and shut down the sim...Countless times. Reloading, sod'd law says it would be that simple.

I'll be back.

Thanks for contributing anyway. I appreciate it.

Same here. This has just started since yesterday morning. Reloading the aircraft/restarting the flight made no difference. I'll bite the bullet and reinstall. Not bad, I got 11 good days out of it. 🙂

Before reinstalling, try repairing the MSFS "app" first..

Windows Settings / apps / msfs

"Repair"

If that fails:

"Reset"

Only if that fails... Reinstall..

That was a very early port of call. A bit of a misnomer 'Repair', all it does is set options back to default. Anyway, the Cavalry was a bit late this time, installing as we speak. 🙂

A little tidy up.

Reinstalled MFS all is well again. I fully expected to have to redo all my settings/controllers but no! I find it a bit spooky that all my details are up there in 'The Cloud'. Not sure how I feel about that.

Anyway, onward and upward.

None of my Cessna's have the glass screens illuminated, eg the screens are black. Avionics is on, brightness turned up. Did the mods by different developers that came out alter anything? Oh and I have reinstalled after that last palaver!

If you added the G1000 V2 mod, the brightness may be turned down.

Push the Menu key on the PFD and adjust the brightness to 100%.
