September 3, 20205 yr Can anyone walk me through the process to do a complete and clean uninstall of this program? I was one of the users that ran into all sorts of install problems when this first released so I ended up giving up and waiting for the patch. Today I tried to install again and everything went great...It actually brought up the content manager and downloaded everything....wonderful! I went to do my first flight....flight went to load, got to the end of the blue bar and then crash to desktop. I tried reloading MSFS 2020 and now it just hangs at the checking for new content or the adjust your experience screen (minus the stuck blue bar this time). I've tried installing, re installing, tried C drive, e drive....can't get back to the content manager to redownload the whole program. Logged out of the stupid MS XBox thing, logged back in....nothing I'd love to wipe it clean and start from scratch....it seems to me a lot of the files and folders created you are denied access to. So frustrated...any help greatly appreciated Jason
September 3, 20205 yr Author No one has any suggestions? I know you guys are veterans of the FS problem solving wars...someone must have some nugget of advice to wipe it clean and try and install fresh? i remember there used to be a pinned topic in the Prepar3d forums for just such a quandary
September 3, 20205 yr Hello @jasonstory44 Don't know If we can post MSFS forums links here. So check Your PM. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
September 3, 20205 yr Jason, 1) If you're on Win10, please check if there are any pending windows updates, and if possible apply them first, and then try starting and playing MFS again... 2) If 1) not applyable for any reason, then again assuming Win 10, go to your windows icon ( bottom left ) / Settings ( the gear wheel icon ), then Apps, scroll to the MFS icon and with the right click on it select UNINSTALL... That's all ! September 3, 20205 yr Jason jcomm Is a "professional uninstaller" 😀, but joke aside there are a bit more steps involved according to the MSFS link I sent You via PM. Cheers Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Depending on if you bought the Sim from the store or steam. Best just to go to the official forums and in the top right search for Clean install. There are directions on how to do the clean install. September 3, 20205 yr How to uninstall is described here. It differs a bit depending of you have the Steam or the MS store version. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/only-for-players-with-installation-issues-note-from-the-team/231206 Always have fun --0-- Flight Sim Navigation
September 3, 20205 yr You're making it way too complicated: delete the installer from the Windows 10 app menu, then delete the 92 gig files dumped somewhere on your harddrive, depending on where you installed it. Check your AppData for any remaining folders. Done. This is for the MS Store version.

Will not say which to prevent a fight. I recommend following the link Rudy provided, find the "HOW TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL" section and follow those directions to a T. I personally would after the step there of manually looking for stray files, run a registry checking program to see it it turns up anything else, such as remnant registry keys. Then reinstall.
