September 12, 20205 yr Hello. I just got Samsung Q80T 49" QLED TV. Everything looks really nice and sharp comparing my previous monitor. The only issue I have now is jittering when panning around the cockpit specifically when using TrackIR. Even without TrackIR I notice jittering. I am getting dizzy. This is 60Hz refresh rate TV. Currently I amusing 60Hz refresh rate, resolution 3840x2160. I wonder if there is anything else I can do to reduce jittering. September 13, 20205 yr In ncp lock to 30hz refresh rate. Some also leave at 60 and try to use max frame rate limit to 30 for P3d in ncp. Then in P3d set frames to unlimited and vsync on 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
September 13, 20205 yr Hi Edward, Maybe this will help, setting up Samsung TV. It's from Rob Ainscough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu5V9a1tGfI&t=436s \Robert Hamlich/
September 13, 20205 yr Author Thanks for the replies. Looks like 60Hz in Nvidia (max for this TV) and unlimited in P3D with vsync on helped a lot. Still not ideal but at least I do not see much judders or flickers. I use basic HDMI cable, I wonder if 2.0 HDMI cable will make any difference. I also wondering if this is something to do with my TV native resolution which is 60Hz. I still can return it and get TV with 120Hz native irresolution (more expensive though). If I change TV resolution in Nvidia from 60 to 30Hz it looks much worse. I assume if my TV would have had 120Hz would it be even smoother? Thanks again. I was thinking of a similar tv to replace my 42 inch 1080p. I find if I do not constantly hit 60fps head tracking can be a horrible experience. I was thinking of upgrading to 4K tv around the same size but I’m worried I’ll have the same issues Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |
November 29, 20205 yr You also need to think about in TV land, 120hz and 120hz in monitor land are two different things. In TV land most 120hz sets are using processing to insert generated frames and or flashing backlight frames to get to 120hz and are not capable of accepting a 120hz native signal from a computer or new game console. You would need to do the homework on the sets you are looking at to see if they support it or not...unlike pc monitor’s that don’t do the above processing but are designed to take the native hz signals. If I am at less complex airport where I get good fps, then TrackIR is ok, but if I fly out or to Chicago , then I have less fps and TrackIR doesn’t work well for me. I feel like I wear wrong glasses. Overall I am actually happy. I have around 40-45 fps flying NGXu in complex airports and I like that I see cockpit details and larger displays. Quality of image is great. But fps I have probably not enough for TrackIR experience. Maybe because it is TV, not a monitor.
