LAB Airline B727-200 - 6 images

Featured Replies

This is the addendum to my earlier post on Eastern Airlines B727-100. Per comments exchanged therein, please find 6 images, here, of LAB Airline (Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano S.A.M.), the (former) flag carrier and principal airline of Bolivia, for the period, from 1925 until it ceased operations in 2010.

It was the second oldest airline in South America after Avianca and one of the oldest airlines in the world. If still operational, it would have been 95 years old today....!

The (below) screenshots are taken at SLLP, El Alto International Airport (default scenery). At 13,323′ Elevation, it's one of highest elevation commercial Airports in the world. And, even in this virtual world, with a pronounced sluggishness felt during takeoff roll, it was clear (to me) that La Paz is no Miami....🙂...no wonder these Trijets were (once) so popular in these regions for hot-and-high operations... !!

This variant is a (CS) B727-200.

Thanks for viewing...!

If you go to the SWA museum here in Dallas right on the KDAL property, you'll see a big Braniff exhibit with tons of memorabilia.  Like just about every airline that's gone under...such a sad story when you read how it affected so many lives in a very bad way.

Here is a part of that memorabilia in the exhibit....:(  An interesting note I just noticed on this old newspaper article...the top story in red....back then...it was just a model...I've been to the Dallas Symphony Hall...great venue!)

@P_7878's fantastic shots and story as usual.

Looks like I've given you yet another segway for an additional story and set of pics (although I won't consider your post about Braniff's history complete unless you include screenshots of ALL their colorful paints on the 727, LoL)

Keep your posts coming...I enjoy them all!

Folks:

Appreciated the comments...!!

Steve:

Thank you...!

Braniff's extremely "colorful" history (here, of course, "colorful" is used in the "literal" sense too...🙂)...is, indeed, much too complex...!!

How about you be kind enough to accept just one color, ready, at hand,...for the CS-727...? The "Jellybean Red"...(please see 2 images, below)...

Can you paint this bold and bright "Red" from your (expert) palette...🙂...(sure, easy enough for you, being not MSFS, here)...🙂...?

BTW, this N7296 B727, must have been also a (RW) Airplane Painter's nightmare...(consider these facts):

  1. In 1967, Ship N7296 was delivered new to Braniff in Green Solid Color Scheme.
  2. In the 1970s, it was repainted in the Red Solid Color Scheme (with White Tail) - as seen below.
  3. Then, Braniff introduced the Two-Tone Paint Scheme for their 727s. So, N7296 was repainted in the "Green over Mustard Green" Two-Tone Colors (the Tail is also Green and Mustard now....I did look this up a bit...)...!

4. So, on, this goes...!

[And, that Dallas Braniff Gallery should be surely worth a visit....whenever possible....]
