September 26, 20205 yr I’ve been away from flight summing for a few years now and want to get back into it. I’m purchasing a new system and I would like to know if these specs are good or overkill. I’ll be running p3dv4, PMDG products and maybe soon MSFS. Advise would be appreciated. CPU: Intel® Core™ Processor i7-10700K 8/16 3.80GHz [Turbo 5.1GHz] 16MB Cache LGA1200 MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS EXTREME E-ATX, ARGB, WIFI 6, Aquantia 10GbE+ 2.5GbE Dual LAN, 3 PCIe x16, 6 SATA3, 3x M.2 SATA/PCIe, TB3 RAM / System Memory: 32GB (8GBx4) DDR4/4000MHz Dual Channel Memory (GSKILL Trident Z RGB) VIDEO CARD: GeForce RTX™ 3080 10GB GDDR6X (Ampere) [VR Ready] (Single Card) Primary Hard Drive: 1TB WD Blue Series SATA-III 6 GB/s SSD - Seq R/W: Up to 545/525 MB/s, Rnd R/W up to 100/80k (1TB x 2 (1TB Capacity) RAID 1 Performance with Data Security) Thank you John
September 26, 20205 yr Looks like a nice system, just make sure you get a power unit that is sufficient. Enjoy! Cheers Martin
September 26, 20205 yr Looks good, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, just some comments... That's a seriously expensive motherboard, do you need 10Gbe or Wifi6? You could save some cash by going for a 'lesser' board. The money saved could go towards a CPU upgrade (10900k?). That motherboard (and most Z490 boards) has NVMe m2 slots, going for a couple of NVMe SSDs instead of the SATA SSDs would speed things up a bit. It should support the RAID config as well if you want it. And as Martin said... don't skimp on the power supply. Food for thought...

I also have this motherboard as an alternate option and it’s a little cheaper. September 26, 20205 yr Looks like your new rig will be able to run any darn sim out there... Good Luck! I may actually purchase a PC with similar specs to run the MSFS2020 beast. BTW. You are asking for advice (a noun) Someone will advise you on a new rig. (a verb). Sorry. My better half is a retired English teacher.🙄

September 27, 20205 yr I would get the 10850K if you can since it is just as good as the 10900K but cheaper. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
