Do we have different setups of FS2020?

Featured Replies

A few days ago I started a thread where I went haywire about the FS2020 bugs and the flightmodel of the A320 in particular. And man did I get it. I will never start a thread like that again.

Anyway... it really made me wonder...do people really accept all this? Have I lost my mind...did my flying skills die just like that? Then again...going over to XP11 is like night and day. Now...the installer itself has been quite weird. I for one have to quit and restart the installer at least 10 times during the download since it drops to 4-5 Mbit for no reason. After restarting the installer, it goes up again to 100 Mbit. After 10 mins, down again. So I was wondering...do you think some of us have more bugs than others due to corrupt downloading/setup? I know it's a longshot but still.

During my "last flight" the other day I noticed that the PFD died/went black during the final approach (I could literally hear the knobs turning to dial down the screen). Once landed and on the runway, it wakes up again. I was 99% sure this bug was supposed to be fixed in the 3rd patch, no? It's pretty serious.

Anyway...just a theory. I'll try to reinstall this from scratch again and let it take whatever time it needs. At 5 Mbit it might take a couple of days at least.

For the download drop, that's 99% sure not on your end. You can only get what's available on their end (and they can set a cap on each download too to keep the bandwidth available for as much people as possible at the same time).

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base & hegykc MFG Crosswind modded pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S for VR

Right, but it happens all the time. I've tried to reinstall FS2020 many times simply because the airliners behave so incredibly weird that I suspect a corrupt installation. But each time I have to quit and restart the installer like 10 times.

5 Mbit is not acceptable these days. And by now I think the servers should be ok. It's been out for a while now...

My suggestion would be to hold off on the reinstall for now, and instead of spending time time downloading,  play around a little with different settings and see what happens.  A clue you gave in your write up was the avionics (MFD) went out on final.  So you were approaching an airport?  Was it a busy one?  Did you have AI traffic turned on?  How much AI ground traffic?  There have been reports that that is the issue for black screen avionics.

Yes, I think we all have different settings and fly different planes at different locations.  Luckily for me, whatever I do is compatible with the game.  It seems your likes rub the game wrong.  That is unfortunate and frustrating for you I know.  For those that have issues, some sleuthing is necessary.

Not quite the same thing, but if you drive to a lake to fish for bluegill, and they aren't biting, you don't drive home and try it again.  I mean, well, you can, but if they aren't biting, they aren't biting. Switch locations, change the bait, or try fishing for different fish.

Hello,
Agree with LarryD

Why do you nee to reinstall FS 2020 when something does not work as you expect ?
I have never reinstalled FS 2020. But tweaking / repairing Windows, yes. Tweaking Fs 2020, yes, trying to understand, yes.... solving, not always : some bugs affect everyone.
If all your neighbours watch TV on the internet, your local bandwidth goes down. Fibre is not a guarantee of a maximum bandwidth.
Same with cars on motorways : traffic can significantly drop down your speed, even if you are allowed to drive at x km/hr with your car, expensive or not.
Try to download some other stuff at the same time, you probably will also get same problems (some servers will be faster than others)

But ... once it is downloaded, you get it. Not a good idea to quit while downloading, except if everything stops, or if you want to play with possible problems. It can work, I am not convinced it' a good choice. I might be wrong.

I wouldn't re-install. I tried it and it fixed nothing. The download took about 8-hrs. On release day my download was only 4-hrs.

If you really want/need to reinstall then make sure you follow the instructions on the MS Forum (FAQ?) for uninstalling MFS. Make sure you've updated the Xbox & Store apps if not using Steam. Try starting your download in the evening. I found starting on Friday afternoon around 6pm was a good starting point.

Give people power to really test their personality.

I should think if there had been an issue with the initial download and install, it would be either apparent in the content manager as something missing, or would have been picked up on boot of the sim when it checks for updates, then either triggered a D/L to fix it if there was something missing or busted, or not fired up at all. So I doubt reinstalling would achieve much, other than to annoy you and clog up the intertron uneccessarily.
