Wilco Embraer 170/190 E-jets Issue

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I reinstalled my Wilco Embraer e jets package, and theres an issue. With no take off data inputed into the FMC, and nothing else there, the jet doesn't take off till after around 170 knots, and doesn't accelerate fast enough. Do I need to input something in order for it to work?

Thanks,

Bill Johnston

Forgive me if this sounds stupid to you, but have you inputted some flaps and some up elevator trim prior to the takeoff run?

Yep, flaps at what they should be, and I haven't added any trim. Should I do that?

Yes - I believe that most airliners (in fact a lot of other planes too) require some up-trim to be added. For example, on the BBS Airbus which I'm recently getting to grips with, then takeoff is usually at Flaps 1, BUT the load manager also recommends a certain amount of up trim to be dialled in - one test flight I did today recommended UP trim of 4.

Even if you take a look at the stock Cessna 172 you can see the trim wheel with a takeoff setting mark next to it.

Quite often I see a complaint that I can't get (insert FSX airliner of choice) off the ground before the end of the runway.

I don't know the specific numbers for the Wilco E-jet, but is there some kind of indicator on one of the displays? Maybe one which shows control surface movement check prior to takeoff or something like that? I don't believe there's an actual trim wheel in the centre console like an Airbus or a Boeing..

You say reinstalled the package, but it sounds like you may not have used it before. As it is the FSX forum I assume you are using Ejets v2.

The place to start is by reading the manual because the software is quite complex. If you have not found it, look in the Windows Start Menu and click on the FeelThere folder.

In the manual on page 62 is a guide to an introductory flight which covers many things you may need. However you do not need to put anything in the FMC to just fly the aircraft, but you do need to use the Configuration Manager first. All covered in the manual. For normal takeoff weights try flaps at position 2 and trim at about 3.0 to 3.5 and see how that works. Use the tables in the manual to see the correct rotate speeds for the different weights. Final point, you may want to check the calibration of your flight controller, in Windows,  to make sure you are getting the full range of elevator control.

The Wilco Embraer is buy far one of the crappiest looking payware cockpit quality aircraft I've ever seen.

@blueshark747 ... oooookkkkaaayyy.. I haven't formulated an opinion on how the Wilco plane looks because it is not in my virtual hangar, but I thank you for yours. However, if we can just get around to actually helping the OP, then that would be great!

I have the same issue (I have the Wilco version too), even if the plane is fully configured with correct weights and speed.
After many useless tentatives (changing the elevator parameters in aircraft.cfg, changing elevator sensitivity / dead zone in the option menu), I'm using a pretty simple workaround: when the plane reaches Vr/V2, I give the initial elevator input with the keyboard (NUMPAD 2) and then continue with the joystick, as usual.

@SAX702 good one! I forgot about the possibility of the plane being overweight... 🍻
