October 29, 20205 yr Hi everyone Has anyone tried P3Dv5.1 and Virtual Reality? I’m trying to decide whether I take the plunge due to a strange flickering issue I’m getting in P3Dv5HF2... Cheers

October 30, 20205 yr I have outstanding and smooth experiences with WMR VR HP reverb above dense areas too. Smoothnes got optimized and the jittery effect which was still a bit noticable within V5.0HF2 is gone. Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
October 30, 20205 yr Good to know. Im waiting for patch for Active Sky but what about 3D windows in VR? Some users doesnt see 2D panels like ATC after this patch Webmaster of yoyosims.pl.Win 10 64, i9 9900k, RTX 3090 24Gb, RAM32Gb, SSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5 [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: HP Reverb G2
October 30, 20205 yr Lucky you Marcus! I just did a first flight with the Rift S (i9 9900, GTX1080). V5.1 is still not great in VR for me. Maybe even worse than 5.0HF2. At least I can see no improvement, a lot of stutter. Very disappointing... Vvince
October 31, 20205 yr I am gonna wait till 5.1hf1 is out - there really is no point playing with 5.1 as hf1 is coming. 5.1 is not even worth installing as the patch could be out in the next few weeks. Very worn out with v5 series. Vvince Vvince, have you tried adding this: min_user_sim_fps = 40 max_user_sim_fps = 40 min_AI_sim_fps = 40 max_AI_sim_fps = 40 to your config ( in [SIM] section), it helped the in cockpit smoothness massively for me. i also lock the frames to 42 with vsync off and the sim is smooth as silk. all the best, pete (i9 10850K, RTX1070 super)
November 4, 20205 yr Pete, Thanks a lot for your suggestion! It's very much appreciated. I tried it, and while it might be a bit better, it is not smooth with my setup. There's still quite a lot of micro stutter when looking on the side (it's much better when looking strait ahead). I guess it also depend on which airplane in which scenery one fly. I fly at quite low altitude (GA planes and military/training jets) My other settings are FXAA Off, 2xMSAA, Anisotropic Texture Filtering 4x, Texture Resolution 1024x1024, Autogen draw distance medium, and autogen building and vegetation Normal Cheers, all the best Vvince

Also read the Learning center about VR. There are some interesting hints how to setup windows and Steam WMR VR. You should be aware, that these 40FPS is NOT as LM recommends. They recommend to set the HMD refreshrate, which is in most cases probably 90hz. so you set 90 instead of 40 fps. Not doing this, can cause lots of stutters at those situations you fly with ca 90 FPS in sim and planes which are not heavy on FPS. You sim gets "decelerated" by this count "40". That is not the case if you stick with the recommendations from LM and set the numbers matching your HMD! Even using half refreshrate numbers like 45 does cause stutters. Read below. I tested these scenarios: Without entrances in SIM section = good performance with FSLabs. No stutters. Bad with all other planes. Stutters due the fact your SIM is constantly trying to reach 90FPS. But if it can´t....it will jump back quickly to the next downward step which is most likely 45FPS. These "up and down" causes stuttering. To mitigate this, insert the recommended section with HMD refreshrate counters in section SIM With entrances and counters set to 45 (which I used before using 90). This causes stutters if the sim can reach higher FPS as 45 and tries to get to the 90is. This causes stutters again, because your sim is jumping up and down again and reduces the output your sim tries to reach by this lowered entrances of for example 40 or 45. With entrances and counters as recommended, in my case 90, stutter free in almost every situation with every plane. Stock, FSLabs, Aerosoft....etc. Only little stutters if you may not even reach 45 fps within the Sim. But that´s normal behaving.....because 45FPS is the minimum a VR user should try to reach within the sim.....only 90 is better of course Works like a charm to me! Try it. I am interested to read back from you how do you judge about this. Happy flyings! Marcus Edited November 5, 20205 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.
November 5, 20205 yr Yes, for me its 45 FPS for motion reprojection ON (HP Reverb). I'll try it (and will check for 90 Hz too). I didnt know this option before. Thx. I have also motion reprojection and the same headset HP Reverb as you do. BUT 45 gave stutters. You should try also 90...really...tested this both. Especially try it on different planes and different speeds.....at locations where you can maintain 45 fps in the sim and locations you can not..... 😉 Marcus Edited November 5, 20205 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.

November 5, 20205 yr Author I get the stutters too, but oddly only for the terrain/landscape (especially looking out the side window). The VC is butter smooth. Oddly enough this never happened with v4.5HF3 I’ll try the frame rate limiter, do you guys set it in the sim or nvidia inspector? My specs are: - 10700K @ 5.0GHz - 3090 - 32GB RAM Cheers
