November 12, 200619 yr Hi,I thought it might be useful to list the planes I've successfully imported into FSX from FS9, I'll add to the list as I continue, and please add the planes you've found to be compatible. My goal was to get a range of different models in. Often other planes for the same author will also tend to work. I'm not including those FS9 planes that have already been updated for FSX (i.e. PAD Turbo Beaver).* Aerosoft Beaver - straight move over* Stuart Green Albatross Pluspack - Straight move over* Milton Shupe et al Beechcraft D18S* LIC Decathlon - Needed to replace old gauges with new ones (need FS9 or later Extra-300.gau, Bell_206B.gau, Bendix_King_Radio.gau files) New panel.cfg can be found here: http://www.flyingscool.com/files/FS9/LICDe...lonPanelCfg.zip - I had a conversation with Kevin and he said all his planes except for the Decathlon should work in FSX.* Carenado Cherokee 180F - Straight move over* Carenado Piper Archer - Straight move over* LIC Christen Eagle II - Straight move over* Dave Garwood DH89 Dragon - Straight move over* Michel Migaud/Oldliner52 F8F - straight move over* Robert Sanderson Hawker Hurricane IId - straight move over* Carenado Mentor - straight move over* Warwick Carter P-51 - had to change one line in the VC of the panel.cfg. Don't know why, as it was corrected in the 2D panel. Updated .cfg file can be found here http://www.flyingscool.com/files/FS9/WCP51PanelCfg.zip * Stuart Green Sopwith Snipe - Need the Vega gauges from FS9* Robert Sanderson Stearman 75 - straight move over* Milton Shupe Rockwell AC520 v3* Golden Age Sim Waco Taperwing - Need the Vega and Spirit of St.Louis gauges from FS9* Eugene Heyart DHC3 PZL - straight move over* Daisuke Yamamoto C119 - straight move over* Daisuke Yamamoto P-3 - straight move over* David C. Copley P-38 series - has two rstart engine start FS98 gauges, all the rest are fine. straight move over. Also need to remove the render_3d_window line from the panel.cfg, or set it to 0.* Guy Hulin F4U-7 - straight move over* Guid Tom Perry
November 12, 200619 yr Author Don't own it yet, I'm waiting for the FSX version. I believe I have read that it won't work in FSX and that they are working on an upgrade.I do have the LvlD 767, but didn't bother to try to use it as they said it won't work. Plus I'm more of a GA kindaguy.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 12, 200619 yr Author * Tim Conrad WACO UPF-7 - Straight move over. Requires FS9 Extra-300.gau, Bendix_King_Radio.gau, and FS9 Lockheed_Vega.cab and Ford_Trimotor.cab from their respective panel directories. Also, edit the panel.cfg file and remove the render_3d_window=1 line.BTW, the Stationair can be found at http://www.francesim.com/Articles.aspx?C=2...Enr=1472&Cpt=-1Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 12, 200619 yr good topic - thanks OPquestion though - just tried 2 you've tested, F4-U and the Hurricaine ..I copy the named aircraft directory into simobjects/airplanes ...but I can't see them in FSX ? any ideas ?thanks, Mark.
November 12, 200619 yr 50 North planes import into FSX very easily. I use the PsPanels analog panel with them. That also imports fine.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
November 12, 200619 yr Author Hmm, I'm not sure. Don't forget to also copy the gauge files and effects files over as well. Some aircraft also put sound files in the FS9Sound directory, and textures in the FS9Texture directories. In the case of the Hurricane, however, the gauges are in the panel directory. The Gauges for the F4U are in the FS9Gauges directory. You did, however, copy the planes to the correct directory and should be able to see them. Did you check the "See all variations" button? I assume you have something like C:FSXSimobjectsairplanesF4U7 ABC?What I would do when installing a plane for FSX is start with the installation file, and install it to a temporary directory like C:WUTempFlight Simulator 9. Then you can figure out if you missed any files. One thing I like to do is create an FSXAircraft directory for my addon FS9 aircraft. This can also help in installing files directly into FSX, though I would suggest against that. I prefer to install to a temporary directory so I know what it did. If you do create an FSXAircraft directory for your FS9 installs, go to your FSX.cfg file and add the line:[Main]User Objects=Airplane, HelicopterSimObjectPaths.0=SimObjectsAirplanesSimObjectPaths.1=SimObjectsRotorcraftSimObjectPaths.2=SimObjectsGroundVehiclesSimObjectPaths.3=SimObjectsBoatsSimObjectPaths.4=SimObjectsAnimalsSimObjectPaths.5=SimObjectsMiscSimObjectPaths.6=Aircraft <== add this line (but not this note)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 13, 200619 yr Author Well, I was looking through my stuff, and I realized that I had a C206 version updated by Roger Bonne with a 2D panel that was almost ready. It also included a redone radio stack using Gerd R.'s Garmin gauges. So I've updated the file available athttp://www.flyingscool.com/files/FS9/C206PanelCfg.zipIt now has two versions of the panel using Bendix and Garmin radios, and both include a 2D panel. The original panel file is included as well that has the "feet" view looking down at the rudder pedals for the 2D panel, but I couldn't find replacements for all its FS98 gauges, so I didn't include that view in the panel I did. The panels could still use some work (like making some of the pop up panels bigger), but, I've put too much time into it already. I think the Garmin gauges came from the Cirrus Six available at Avsim here http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...04ac&DLID=66089.Thanks,Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry

November 13, 200619 yr Author Ok - thanks for the update. To me they are still fun to fly :) But your information is good to know. But really, I didn't even notice the issues. I guess it's kind of like the difference between being a house painter and the customer. I found I was more critical of my work than the customers ever were.Too bad you aren't panning on updating them. I love these planes. In fact, I was hoping a version of the Stearmans could be made for a WWII two seat trainer. I realize there are others out there, but the quality of your work far surpasses those, even with the issues you mentioned. Thank you for your attention to detail. I really appreciate it.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry

November 13, 200619 yr Author Thank you :) I didn't even know you were working on them. The only planes I've ever piloted are some various 152 and 172 models, my Piper Cherokee and a 180 hp Arrow, so I don't have a whole lot of real life experience, and absolutely none in a Stearman. But I just spent an hour flying the '55 Stearman around KASH and 26MA, and it was a total pleasure to fly for me and definately met my needs. The only surfaces I could find that appear to be the surfaces you discussed as appearing black because they have no texture look perfectly natural to me (the handles, the hoses, and a few other small surfaces here and there), and since I spend most of my time in the cockpit, and some time watching the plane fly by, I never noticed the pilot's goggles or the counterbalances. So, despite your misgivings, I still would suggest that the plane works well in FSX. But, again, thank you for your attention to detail, and I am totally looking forward to whatever it is that you will be producing. To me, the quality of these planes is superb.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 13, 200619 yr I have read that the PMDG B1900D and B1900C are also transferable with a straight move over.
November 13, 200619 yr My Shockwave P-51 works perfectly in FSX.Sadly, my Captain Sim F-104 does not. No gauges. Total bummer. More than anything I want to blast around Edwards AFB and play with those super long runways. After watching The Right Stuff (ten times), I've really got the taste for it. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
