I sugest you to try to deactivate envshade and get your original v5.1 shaders restored and shared cache cleared. Take a look at your envshade backup folder and check if the shaders stored have the same date file like the others you will find in your shaders p3d root folder. I had to repair my p3d v5.1 client deleting the envshade restored shaders files because the backup files came from previous versions of prepar3d. I posted a similar issue and this fix at togaproject support forums.

I really don't know what to do.

Can I use AS with EA? Should I use it with EA? Does it give good results? With what configuration?

Or should I switch off EA? What configuration then?

As someone said, screenshots would be very helpful.

I see HIFI is doing everything they can to keep up with the constant changes in V5. But I'm kind of lost now trying how to get good results.

Karl

Turn on EA.

Use ASP3D default settings.

Do not use any other shader mods eg Envshade. If you keep it simple, things should work fine.

Don’t use envtext and envshade with EA.

Black objects usually means the objects themselves are incompatible with EA - devs need to fix this. Should not happen with default (unless you’ve wrecked the shaders) as long as you remembered to update everything, not just client.

Do you have issues with OVC conditions?

No matter what I do, it looks horrible on my end. unrealistic blue tint and a light grey band at the horizon.

The gist of the situation is that EA still blows in 5.1.

Yes in some particular scenarios the outcome is completely mindboggling. But in some cases EA really shines.

But I really hope what we see is not the envisioned end product...and those waffleboard cloud patterns, we had that in XP11 in 2016 already.

whats causing it Rob is the weather.  If i turned off EA the issue went.  Its like a layer of white fog / word not allowed

Can i ask do you have

1.volumetric fog on or off

2.windshield effects

3.god rays

thanks very much

Chapstick, probably, posting here in the year 2047.

Chap, that’s not the gist of what people have posted at all. Some people seem to be having issues. Other people love it.

Making hyperbolic, negative posts does the sim a dissevice.

No, it’s (probably) the objects not being v5 compliant. If they were, you’d see hazy objects through the fog, not black ones. Do you see these black blobs with full default scenery?

As for your question:

1. Vol fog always on

2. Windshield effects off because of rain in cockpit issue in earlier versions.

3. Usually off as some allege performance impact in specific situations and i didn’t like he v5.0 ones enough to chance it. Might try them again now in 5.1.

cheers!

thanks alot, i appricate it

Ive only done one sector, but the proformance definatley seems better.

maybe its me, but im sure in 5.0 when i switched from the sim to something else, say Chrome etc etc i could still hear the sim in the headset, now it goes off and then goes back on when i switch back to the sim.   Is this a new thing ??  or have I check/unchecked something ?

You need to uncheck "Mute on lost focus" in the P3D sound settings.

If your sim is still running you get back, it’s not a “pause on task switch” issue. Rather, you need to go into the sound menu and uncheck “mute on lost focus”.

edit: too slow! 🙂
