November 14, 200619 yr Hey all,I was wondering if anybody else had a problem with their ground vehicles bouncing on the ground? All ground vehicles seem to bouncing at the same time. I can't seem to figure out whats making them do it.Anybody got any ideas?Kael

November 14, 200619 yr The only thing I know is that the airport vehicles mostly have a "static cg height" about 1-2 feet above the ground. This is what they get reset to when loading a flight paused for example. But as soon as you unpause the game, they're supposed to fall down until they touch the ground (or merely until the data in the sim.cfg file touches the ground ;) that's what I corrected for 2 vehicles in my patch). If they keep bouncing, something must be resetting their position or something about the terrain could be causing this (if the terrain level "flickers", the vehicles will most certainly bounce with it).But I don't know what exactly could be causing this in your case.

It happens largely when I switch views to look at other AI aircraft. I guess when that happens new textures or ground layers or something area loaded? Perhaps as each ground layer (or texture/mesh/whatever) is loaded, the vehicle, bouncers. Could this be it?
June 10, 200718 yr Hi Folks!I bumped this thread because no one posted a solution to this issue. I am having the same problem specifically at KSAN. The ground vehicle bouncing gets really annoying. Anyone come up with a fix? SP1 did not fix it.Thanks!Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.
June 10, 200718 yr One or more of the AI aircraft you have installed has a wrong contact point setting. Remove AI and the bouncing will be gone. Put AI back one by one to identify the faulty model. ==Marten:Weber==P-D920 oc3.64MHz 2GB RAM WinXP ATI X1900+1024MB 2xSATA250 2xVIEWSONIC 19"Best AI available today: www.world-of-ai.com

June 10, 200718 yr >I was wondering if anybody else had a problem with their>ground vehicles bouncing on the ground? All ground vehicles>seem to bouncing at the same time. We have been discussing a problem with bouncing float planes (when stationary and landed on water) in another thread. We discovered that setting Terrain Mesh resolution to 1m reduced the occurence of this. You could try this setting value as a long shot to see if it helps, however, the cause may be completely unrelated.
June 10, 200718 yr Hey guys,I can't beleive this post has been dug up from 6 months ago, nice work. I never really found an answer to the problem. For the record, it does it with default AI as well as all the Ultimate Traffic AI. I havn't tried disabling AI altogether which I shall expirment with.I'll also try lowering the mesh res to 1m and see if that works. Thanks

This seemed to be rounded off by compilers/decompilers, because I will have to tweak it...because:...this caused bouncing ground vehicles and, at certain angles, a flashing apron. So if you are having bouncing ground vehicles (NOT the pushback tugs, as they seem unaffected...(?), I would say it has something to do with the airport elevation vs. flatten elevation. More testing needed.Do you have any aftermarket AFCAD-type scenery installed?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 15, 200718 yr G'day Rhett,I've had this issue from day 1 with default FSX airports. I've sinced started using FSX Planner to edit modify airports and have noticed the same thing with them.I originally thought it had something to do with texture/mesh loading, because should I be away watching an AI aircraft enroute somewhere, and then click back to view an AI aircraft on the ground, the ground vehicles bounce in time with the mesh/textures getting loaded.Kael
June 15, 200718 yr You know, it's really weird, because last night I tested...The first thing I did was make sure all elevations were the same with the flatten and the runway and the airport. It made no difference. Sometimes the ground vehicles would STILL jump.Seemed to happen at random...I never noticed it before about 2 days ago.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
