December 24, 200619 yr As long as the buyer understands that this is a "express line" which means its basic and "for fun" and do not expect much, you will be ok.The graphics both inside and out are, well basic. The interior is bland and lifeless. Unlike the c-130 the shuttle is sterile and cold, maybe thats the way it is?I have not had time to dig through the manual but it appears to be very limited in what you can do. There are 3 presets you can load. 2 use slew which is really all you can do at high altitude. All ive done is the short final which begins at 15000.The canned Nasa recordings add some realism but the other sounds are, basic.I nailed my first 3 landings which leads me to think the fm is,basic. So basically my first hour or so with the CS shuttle is that its, well, basic.Nothing in IMO here worth bragging about or thats going to win any awards. Actually Im let down by the graphics but at least its not a slide show. Unless you are a hardcore shuttle fan theres really nothing here to do unless you really like doing engine outs from 15000 in a 747.Even after one hour Im bored with it and considering a way to replace the cfg and add some power to it. Maybe then fly it around or fly it to altitude and cut the engines.
December 24, 200619 yr You only tried one of the flights from FL150, shouldnt you try these also before reviewing the product.1. Entry - starts at Entry Interface Point (altitude 400,000 feet, M=26)2. TAEM - starts at TAEM Interface Point (altitude 82,000 feet, M=2.6)Not saying that makes it worth investing in, but be fair.
December 24, 200619 yr Well there is this simulator called S3.I like it, it is fairly indepth, and it is only version 1.www.shuttlesim.be
December 25, 200619 yr >I do remember Virgins shuttle. I spent hours on that.>> Oh, that was great!!! I think I still have my copies floating around somewhere.. When they updated it they just sent you a whole new copy of the game! That was nice, expensive though I bet!Part of me really wants to try the CS Shuttle, but after the whole 757 thing I just can't justify the risk.. Although I just finished up a few minutes in their C130 on FS9, I love that plane! Given FSX performance issues I think I have to take that into consideration too.
December 26, 200619 yr > >> Perhaps your not old enough to remember that the first>shuttle had> plenty of steam gauges.>> The greater percentage of GA aircraft out there still have>analog.perhaps you didn't read what I wrote? "hasn't been used in years"?My point is, using analog instead of LCD means they, as usual, took the easy way out. And left FS9 757 owners hanging, as usual. Not to mention 707 and 727 owners
December 26, 200619 yr Yes I had problems with the 757 got nothing but canned responces never fixed the problem.I downloaded orbiter great graphics but too complex for me.I am a space shuttle guy.as the above poster linked this is a good sim needs some spit and polish but has awsome potental.I am not happy with fsx seems like it was a bunch of empty promises.where is all the payware stuff that supposted to be in it,not even fsuipc that they had a deal with pete on that?.problem I see with CS shuttle it is like half a sim.I would pay a few bucks but not 30$.and as far as if the intrest pick up they will add on ya right like the 757 F block. Then charge another 30$ I'll wait now If we can get oribiter and S3 together that will be an awsome sim. S3's shuttle with orbiters graphics and missions.perfect You guys should be working out a deal instead of being in competition.
December 27, 200619 yr payware took a while to get going for FS9, I don't know why people thought FSX would suddenly have countless payware products within the first few months
December 28, 200619 yr Count my vote as a Yes. Some of the specifics I'd like to see:1. Docking with spacestation2. Satellite capture and repairs/updates3. Moon missionsI think moon missions would be most interesting: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/explorat...main/index.htmlJust curious, the commander takes control around the 5 minute to touch down mark, prior to that it is all automated (about 25 miles out). It'll be a tricky 5 minutes for sure with 19 degree pitch and 220 mph landing speed. But there again, I guess that is the best part of Flight Sims anyway, the landings.Rob.
