November 19, 20205 yr I purchased the VerticalSim Clearwater airport this morning. It may be worth $5.00 to someone that has an airplane based there, but, I see very little improvement over the typical MSFS small airports. I don't remember looking at this particular airport in the default scenery, but, there are obviously some nice improvements added. UPDATE: I had Bing Maps turned OFF in the options so I was not seeing the developer's improvements. Sorry about that. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I don't remember looking at this particular airport in the default scenery, but, if I didn't know this was an upgrade I don't see anything that stands out for me. I wish VerticalSim would have spend a few more minutes on the package and improved the golf course that butts up to the runway. At least add the putting greens and T-boxes. The fence posts (that look exactly like the Milford Sound runway fence posts) all dance and flash on takeoff. See image 1b. I had rather spend a dollar more and have these improvements. Regards, Ray That dark green patch below the Bonanza should be a golf course. duh. Those fence posts all dance around and flash as you make your takeoff run. Very distracting to me. Wow, talk about mis-information. Remove the airport then go look at the default scenery. Turn on photo scenery as it looks like you have it turned off when you do your comparison. VerticalSim did a great job with this. Go look at the real airport using Google Earth. It's not one I would have chosen but just the same VerticalSim reproduced what is there. Maybe your not a fan of the real location which I can understand but to say it's not much different than default is mis-leading especially when your not using photo scenery which it was created to work with. Heck I'd imagine all add-on scenery looks like word not allowed without photo scenery turned on. Maybe a better way to put it is this real world airport is lackluster in general and not that much better than a FS2020 default field. It sits next to an industrial area in a not so nice side of town. This would have been a field I personally would have left default because it is lackluster in the real world. There's far better choices but since they did it it's actually representative of the real world location. November 19, 20205 yr Dillon, that is pretty much what I said. Maybe you should read my post again. I said I had not viewed this particular airport but after installing the upgrade I would know it was any different than typical MSFS small airports. There is nothing there but a few hangars. Missing the golf course and the dancing fence is typical of the default airports. UPDATE: The dancing fence was the MSFS default. VerticalSim removed the fence. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

This airport is so woven into the surrounding scenery that your not getting the full picture without the scenery around the airport. I had to edit out my golf course comment until I check this out later. What your showing above is default FS2020 without the photo scenery which looks like word not allowed. I'm sure with scenery turned on that golf course looks like the real world. They might not have touched that. November 19, 20205 yr Dillon, Photo scenery was turned on, but, Bing Maps was OFF for some reason. Both are on now. This is with the VerticalSIm upgrade removed, so I guess it would be the default airport scenery. The airport does indeed look better in places, but, how about all those trees looking like blocks. Is that just MSFS not paying attention? I will reinstall the VerticalSim upgrade and post some images to compare. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

What you'll see when you install VerticalSim's version is the developer trying to work around these limitations. Nice shots by the way and that is default. That's what I love about this sim. Default never looked so good. November 19, 20205 yr I have a condo in Dunedin. Looking forward to purchasing and downloading, thanks!!
November 19, 20205 yr OK Gang, here is what the Clearwater Airpark looks like with all the necessary features turned on. This is the new release by VerticalSim for less than $6 and it is highly recommended. Lots of improvements and added goodies in and around the airport. This is a nice area of Florida for just flying around punching holes in the clouds. Thanks Dillon for catching my faux pas. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Ray There's something clearly wrong with my installation because mine looks nothing like that. MSFS
