But if someone opens a thread about how much they love, this or that, then why is there the need for some to rain on the parade and say....Yeah. but ....and then list their laundry list of grievances. I mean really. Really? really really? sorry Zoolander thing going on.... Ugh I think as in real life converstions if everyone just agreed with what another person said and and those who didnt agree didnt say anything... conversations and forums would be kinda boring. Just a bunch of "YES" men and woman virtue signaling eachother. KInda like if this was food forum and someone was like I really really like pizza... and someone says ewww I hate pizza ita gross..etc etc etc.. Its really not that big of a deal... SO YAH GRUMPY MCGRUMP FACE YOU ARE BEING GRUMPY.
November 21, 20205 yr Since you ask, yes you are overly grumpy. To start a thread is an invitation to a discussion not to a litany of praise or rant. And a forum is not a campfire where we sing along holding our hands. November 21, 20205 yr My only comment is that this forum is, more or less, a pleasant place to be now. I have noticed that there has been a huge turnaround in the number of very positive threads with a few negative ones being treated fairly well. There are obvious exceptions of course, but in general, most of the trolls have moved on and who knows just how much animosity they generated in a short life span. It is good to see that people can express a negative point of view now and it is not shouted down quite as quickly, and most of the community are still prepared to help others who have genuine problems and go about trying to fix them in a proper way. As this is the only forum I visit on a very regular basis, I cannot vouch for the others, but it does appear that the trolls are losing traction, and that clears the way for the users with problems to actually voice their concerns and get help. Yep start something positive turns into a word not allowed show on any forum. Post something negative and add more fuel on a fire. Good old internet where buffalo's stay home and trolls rome. Internet is full of drama and insecurity. I think AMD vs Intel is the worse. This flight sim battle is tiny and pathetic and in the long run will kill off the genre. I think what the OP is describing if it happened in "real life", would be the equivalent of someone saying they enjoyed a movie, only for a stranger to swoop out of nowhere, push up their glasses, and tell you why you're wrong. There's a hundred threads for people to air their grievances and complaints. Some thread called "I'm having a good time!" probably isn't one of them. At the same time, welcome to the internet, where raining on parades is the biggest export.

I love when somebody (you 😉) starts a post to say "Discussion and disagreement is fine." and goes forward in basically saying the contrary 😂 ! A forum is not a parade, we are not cheerleaders and by definition we are all strangers to each others. The OP mixes two things, debate and discourtesy. There is nothing wrong barging into a praising thread to tell that your experience is different. What is wrong is mocking (poking a little fun is OK though) or being nasty. A forum is not a meeting of the faithful. And if anything, the internet is more full of virtue signalling and people keen to interdict what they don't agree with than raining on parades. What is the benefit of a posting bearing absolutely no information other than the momentary emotion of a person at a given time? And following your logic if I had different feelings I would like to express (but who would - or should - care?) I would have to open yet another thread. Why would I come to this forum if there were only unipolar threads praising or ranting with no further information? If one feels the need for an "instagram of flightsim", maybe "Hangar Chat" would be the place to go, as @AmeliaCat suggested. That said, there's surely nothing wrong with respecting opinions and standpoints.
