December 12, 20205 yr I have tried to access my content manager for the last week and all I get is the circle spiraling. Everything else works fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Rodger
December 12, 20205 yr I think this occurs when a "bad" manifest.json file is in your Community folder. Try removing (or copying) all your addons from your Community folder, then bring up MFS with no addons in the Community folder. Check to see if the Content Manger works for you. If so, copy the addons back into your Community folder one at a time until you figure out which one is causing the issue. The Addons Linker app will also identify any bad manifest.json files https://www.flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker
December 12, 20205 yr Yes gr8av8r is right I had the exact same problem and it turned out it was one of the mods I put in the community folder. I would try taking out the most recent mods first to see if you can find it that way.
December 13, 20205 yr In my case, it was the Newzealand Fix 1.1. https://www.nexusmods.com/microsoftflightsimulator/mods/367 Stephan from Germany My System

How do you identify the bad manifest.json files? How do we fix them? Thanks! Jose MSFS

Jose I think the only way is trial and error, and for us to make a list of the offending files and put it on here for everyone. I had this happen and was trying to trace by moving stuff back one by one, but it takes sooooo long, as you have to keep restarting in the sim. I have a pretty big list of what works now, as the content manager loads again, but I have about 12 candidates for the stuff that blocks the content manager. One of them may be the global shipping traffic it seems, but may be due to me needing to make a proper json file. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). The way I've resolved issues with the content manager is to always load default profile with nothing in my community folder. It's easy with the linker ap. I've also found that it's easy to isolate the problem mods since I have about 25 profiles with only a few mods to enable or disable. It still would be great to know how to quickly fix the .json file for airports. There's an ap that fixes the layout.json file for liveries. I was just wondering if there's such an ap to fix manifiest.json file? MSFS

This works great! https://github.com/HughesMDflyer4/MSFSLayoutGenerator It works so fast you think it hasn't worked sometimes! (check the file date and time to show that it has). I will try it on the global shipping later. I must try that linker app, especially with Bijans season files that will need to be swapped in and out now. December 13, 20205 yr Ah! My mistake. That app fixes the layout files, which is the main part of the work. The manifest files are just a descriptor and are fairly easy. This is the one for the global shipping, but I believe you can just have a dummy one in there as long as it follows this format. { "dependencies": [], "content_type": "UNKNOWN", "title": "", "manufacturer": "", "creator": "AI_Ship_Traffic", "package_version": "0.1.2", "minimum_game_version": "1.9.5", "release_notes": { "neutral": { "LastUpdate": "", "OlderHistory": "" } } } Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). Well moving and testing one by one is not an efficient search algorithm. Try this instead: - move half the files back and test - once you work out which half of the files has the faulty one, move half of those back and test - rinse and repeat You should be able to isolate the bad one amongst 30 or so folders with just 5 or 6 tests
