December 17, 20205 yr So really not sure what I am doing wrong at this point. 99% of the time no matter what I can't get P3D to use the right runways according to winds for departure. I am loading ASP3D first, then loading P3D, winds are 014/18, runway options are 22 or 4. Obviously with winds @ 014/18 I should get assigned to the 4's but I still get the 22's for departure. This is after sitting for a considerable amount of time to let things "settle" as well. Every "once in a while" it will actually get it right but 95% of the time it's just wrong... Landing seems to be fine according to prevalent winds. So what am I doing wrong on departure? I'm sure it's on my end. December 17, 20205 yr Author Nope, all the runways are set up the same in the AFCAD. 4L/22R are departures 4R/22L are landing. All of that works a charm, the only issue is getting runway selection to match wind direction... Even AI were using 22L for landing with winds 020/20... This seems to happen only on departure, it's like P3D isn't initializing the AI based on AS weather information. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Most airfields do not operate with opposing traffic for approaches and departures for flight safety reasons. However it is done at some low traffic airfields where there are terrain issues, according to weather conditions. John B

I do see it "everywhere" but that is a skewed response because like most I only use add-on airports. Haven't tried default airfields.... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Likewise, but I can't say I see it every time. I have noticed it at FT Copenhagen which I think may be the airport you are using as an example. And my observation may be skewed because I use that one more than others. Of course in real life, airports with longer runways may accept a small tailwind component in choice of runway, for operational convenience, but sometimes in the sim it gets a bit excessive. John B

Using PF3 but the AI chooses it's runway long before I launch PF3 and PF3 reads what the AI is using (I believe) Now that we are talking about it, with FS9 there was always the "refresh AI" option in ActiveSky after the weather loaded. I "wonder" if I moved the time by a few minutes after P3D loads to force an AI refresh might help... Hmmmmm Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 17, 20205 yr When canned ATC becomes uncooperative I simply remind them/it that I own the disk space they have their a** parked on and I will do as I very well please.🙂 Vic green

Hmmmmm I don't use P3D but in FS9 I found the best way to avoid the problem is leave AI off completely (0%) and not enable AI until the weather is completely loaded and the winds correct. AI that get a runway assignment before the weather is fully loaded may be causing the problem.

Let ASP3D start, load P3D, let it sit then change the time by 5 minutes. In theory this should "reset" the AI if it works like it did in FS9... Thanks Patcho but that doesn't really help me when all the AI in the sim is going in the opposite direction to me... Yes, I can do what I want but it would be nice for AI to do the same.
