Touch Portal question

Featured Replies

I had some interest in Stream Deck(too expensive), then discovered Touch Portal(almost free), so decided to go that route.  Long story short, I have an old Ellipsis tablet, Android 5.1.1, load TP on it with no problem, loaded TP on my Windows 10 computer.  They actually communicate with each other.  I can use the opening screen they provide to open a web page on the computer and so on, however when I added a key to lower the gear, nothing, same with landing lights.  I used the virtual key press and low level key press to program those keys.  It looks like TP communicates and works, just not with MSFS.  Any thoughts?  What am I missing?

Should have added, using the free version.  I wanted to test if first.

Mike

If it's anything like the Streamdeck app, it has to be run as admin for the sim to see the keystrokes.

I use it without issue with MSFS.

The only thing I can think of is the fire wall settings.

Or, make sure you saved say “G” for the assigned key on the tablet in the Windows interface to make sure it was assigned.

Thanks to all, running as admin did the trick.  Very neat program.

Mike

Take a look at sim dashboard too. Also very well made and even cheaper

Indeed, after testing the free version as you are now I upgraded to the pro version.

I have pages for each of the aircraft I fly most often (172, 182, G36) to work in conjunction with their respective checklist and it works like a charm!

I love this app,

I created a post about it a while back. I have it running on my 7th Gen iPad for my sim (MSFS & X-Plane 11) if you have X-Plane there are a ton of stuff you can assign. I have mapped virtually every overhead function for the Zibo 737 & FF A320. In fact I love it so much I brought a used Huawei Mediapad and the android version and use it to fully control my main pc that runs ActiveSky, Simtoolkit Pro & LittleNavMap and where I keep all my charts. I found a great site for some really nice icons

https://www.iconarchive.com/

I have had hours of fun configuring this on both devices, it is addictive lol

Wow, looks great, this is what I intend to do with it.  Checked the web site, can't find flight sim icons though.

Yeah I had fun configuring and testing.

I also have the bottom pack but haven’t assigned them yet.

I only have the rainbow of button for now. Red for engine functions, blue for flight controls, white for avionics, etc.

Look under the icon link on the touch portal page

https://www.touch-portal.com/assetsdb/show-all.php?cat=i

There is a flight sim pack.

I have different icons showing different states, on/off etc 🙂

Here is an example of how I configured a button to reflect an on/off state

This is using the logic options on the left right?

I stopped there because I was done messing with it after creating 3 pages one for each of three airplanes.

Correct,

If you make 1 button so that it has a different icon for on/off you can then apply to more

One thing to be aware of with something like this is the potential for the TP button state to 'accidentally' get out of sync with the state of the actual control in the sim. So when the control in the sim is ON, the TP button state is OFF, and vice versa.  Of course once you realize this has happened, you can easily re-sync things by using the mouse or 'real' keyboard to activate the control in the sim without using the TP button.
