no ai aircraft in fsx

Featured Replies

I have a problem with ai aircraft. The sliders are at 100% for aircraft and i see no aircraft in fsx. There are some standard ai aircraft in fsx or not?I also installed mytraffic x and i see no aircraft.Cars and boats are working.Does someone know what the problem can be?greetings,Ron van DijkRNLAF F-16 painter

Hello,Have you installed WoAI packages? If yes, when a WoAI package is installed the "default" AI is not visible anymore. They seam incompatible.

I have no woai installed. From the first day that i had installed fsx i did not see any aircraft in fsx.

If you did not see any AI aircraft with a fresh FSX install even with the slider at 100%, you were either at a place with no AI, or something was wrong with the install. Do you have the newest MyTraffic installed? Or do you have to old FS9 mytraffic installed? That would make a difference as to seeing AI or not inside FSX.*any*, and I mean any FS9 AI package put into FSX, will eliminate all FSX AI in the area. The two cannot coexist.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

I have installed mytraffic for fsx.Maybe something went wrong with the first instal.I will delete fsx and try to install it again.Maybe that will help.I will let you know if that was the problem.

I have a similar problem, I wanted to check some world of AI aircraft I installed so I went to Sydney Kingston International (YSSY) and even with 100% AI slider settings I only saw one aircraft parked (Emirites) in the whole large airport.Later I went to a much smaller Adelaide International (YPAD) and found 5 (default) aircrafts parked, then to Narita international (tokyo) and found roughly 20 aircraft.I think something with World of AI caused Kingston (YSSY) to be dead.

i have installed fsx 2 times and i also have never seen even one other aircraft with settings on 100%.i can fly over lax, seatac, etc and they are empty.i do get a huge framerate hit with ai set on 100% but never see any ai aircraft.i have plenty of cars/trucks/boats, just no planes or airport vehiclesotter

I have installed fsx again and with the sliders at 100% I see aircraft now! Not much but they are there. So i think it went wrong when I installed a traffic addon. It seems that indeed the standard ai wil be dissabled when you instal a addon. Now i want to install mytraffic x but after the instalation you must do something before you see aircraft. I don't know what that is because a don't have a manual.

I have the same problem. I installed a pack World of AI before installing My Traffic X but I don't see any plane.Help pls ! tx

Did you check to see in what FSX folder the FP bgl was placed.Check and see what folder the AI Planes are in. If they were installed in a folder other then the Simobjects Airplanes folder then you have to define a path statement in the FSX.cfg file.FSX is a little different then FS9 when it comes to checking if FSX recognizes the installed AI Plane. You have to alias a panel to the AI Plane in order to see if FSX says it exists.Did you run the FSX Flight plan compatibility checker and converter utility that Peter van der Veen wrote. This small program checks/converts flight plans made for FS9 for the existence of airports which are not anymore in FSX or has been changed.WOAI and other FP developers (Payware and Freeware) are still using the FS9 Airport dump file rather then the proper FSX Airport list.Reggie Fields did a lot of work to supply Peter with the FSX airport data which differs from FS9.The FP.bgl in most cases is written and compiled by Lee Swordy's TTools compiler. This compiler was designed for FS2002 with some minor updates for FS9. TTools compiler started giving us problems in FS9 with aircraft not showing up based on timing changes and hardcode throttle scaling used by FS9. Many found that they had to change their TAS to IAS so more planes would show up at the airport they were spotting at.TTool compiled FP's and FSX are even less compatible and causing greater issues then before. Like Mace said, the FP bgl's are not even close and TTool FP.bgls corrupt FSX FP.bgls when used together. Now consider the throttle value that FSX uses which by default is set to .70 in their TDB FP's and then coded into the Airport Facitity xml database.TTool compiled FP's know nothng about this type coding and when the TTool FS9 FP bgl is processed through FSX it rids itself of many compiled FP's that it sees as errors. What you must do to get a desent representation of AI for some of the major airports is over tax the airport. An example is KATL, KORD, KLAX, etc. In FS9 we overloaded these type airports with the way FP's were written. In FSX you don't see the overloading occuring do to the error checking process used and scaling. In simple terms you have to put a whole lot of AI Planes and TTool compiled FP's into a airport to get a few to show up.This is seen at smaller airports when no traffic or just 1 or 2 AI Planes are sitting around when the TTool compiled FP says there should be a lot more. One other small issue is all the days of the week in FS9 type compiled FP's (TTools) vs FSX TDB compiled FP's are off by one.Peters utility also corrects that small phenomena. When you start to add up all the little issues they becone a big issue when looking for AI Plane Traffic. MS told us with the release of FS2002 that FP's are compiled and error check with their TDB compiler. Future versions of FS would not be backward compatible (using TTools compiler) and it is finally catching up.

Thanks Jim for this explanation.I am using woai for my fsy traffic and there aer always some planes on the ground. It seems, however, that not everyting works properly. With your explanation I can understand better why things don't work.Anyway, FSX is still a very new program and we will just have to wait until someone comes up with some completely FSX compatible ai traffic.Alex

AlexI just finished and uplaoded my KATL AFCAD and it really at times looks empty compared to FS9.After running Peters utility and porting over all my FP bgls that I used in FS9, the KATL FSX AI program is only placing about 70 percent of the total compiled FP's. I ran my testing through several utilities that calculate Parking spot numbers based on flight arrivals (AITM, yRoute, etc.) and each time came up with less AI Planes then the Flightplan had compiled. After we compile a FP txt file we can't see the processing code that FSX is using. We can monitor the AI traffic with the SDk Traffictoolbox but it shows the same as my test results. There is another issue that appears to be a problem and some have already noticed it. The FPS takes a big hit when you slide up to 100 percent but the airport you are at does not justify that amount of AI Planes. What I am seeing is the AI Plane count based on compiled Flightplans is correct for any AI traffic that is in the visual AI Zone (108NM radius from the User Aircraft) flying through the visual sector. This is causing the FPS to take the hit even though AI Planes are at a high altitude. So the airport looks somewhat empty due to scaling and other factors but the sky is full of transition AI Planes.

Hi. Where can we get this Peter van der Veen program? I did a search with his name and did not find it. Will it work with the UT compiled traffic bgl? Thanks, regards, Bob.
