Based on all the posts, looks like VR is not ready for MSFS? I was going to get a VR headset today but I am having second thought about it given all the issues with frames and all the rest.

I have the latest hardware but will it be enough? What say you? Before spending 500-600 dollars I would like to get your input.

Works fine for me so I would say "Yes" it is VR Ready...but: can it better? of course. is more optimisation needed? of course. Is it currently flyable with decent immersion so that you feel like you're in an aircraft in it's current state? yes

Thank you for the recommendation. I think I will give it a go. Any headset in particular that would be better than the rest?

I won't comment on other HMDs as I don't own them but my Reverb G1 is just great with it on my System.

What is the difference between G1 and the G2? Is it a resolution thing?

G2 is just an upgrade in Clarity and a few other areas, the resolution is the same. Overall it's not worth upgrading (speaking personally) as the cost is too extreme for such a "small" upgrade so I'm sticking with the G1 for another year or two.
Besides you'll only get the G1 Second Hand now if you wanted that, so if I were you (and your PC specs are good enough) I'd go for the G2 at Full Retail.

Thank you so much Marc. I don’t think the G2 is out in the market yet if I wanted to buy it today. I will try BestBuy

The G2 is out if you can find one.   I per-ordered mine in August and received it about 3 weeks ago.

G2 all the way!

G2 it is then

They’re still behind on preorders, although some shops have been queue jumping. You could get lucky.

Very happy with my G2, after a fairly steep learning curve - but definitely agree that the sim is VR Ready right now.  Loving it.

And they’re very difficult to find at the stores. Pre-orders ship in January. I hope it’s worth the wait.

I ordered in July, so got delivery in early December.  Initial impressions were not great, but it has grown on me.  Be aware that it is front-heavy, fairly tight on the face, not good if you wear specs (I've ordered lenses) and the FOV is not huge.  That said, as someone moving up from PSVR, I am now, 4 weeks later, a very, very happy customer.  Just figured it's worthwhile managing expectations; perfect it ain't.

VR is super ready, as long as you come in understanding that you will have to sacrifice some 2D eye candy quality options for performance on any hardware.
