I am using the G2 and enjoying MSFS in VR. My only problem is, if I switch back to my desktop and then back to VR the performance is badly degraded. So bad that I have to exit the flight and start over from the welcome screen. This happens consistently. I have to make sure that I never exit VR before my flight is complete

I haven't seen any mention of this problem anywhere, which leads me believe this problem may be unique to me. Perhaps I have something set up incorrectly.

I have my Vr graphics at the default settings.

My GPU is a 2080 Super, Cpu is I9, [one of the latest models not sure which], but works very well considering that in 2D Most of my setting are on ultra and high.

Any advice appreciated.

Robin

I have that to using an Index with Steam VR: Exiting Steam VR helps. But for some reason it opens again after a while for a short time where FPS tanks and sound switches to the Index.

Yep i just avoid going back to desktop until my flight is fully finished now, even after waiting a few moments to let the FPS "settle" it's never back to what it was before.

That's what my Quest 1 was like on the first day using Steam, until the OpenXR update. Toggling no longer cripples performance, but toggling it off leaves s a jittery mess in the headset till toggling back on.

I had noticed before that SteamVR Home was a slideshow after switching back and forth from monitor to VR, so i turned Home off in SteamVR settings but not since fine the same thing, that may help perhaps.

You could try going to settings, System, Display scroll to the bottom click Graphics Settings and make sure your Flight Sim app preference is set at high performance. I just discovered mine were not.

Yep same experience here with Oculus Home, the VR from MSFS leaves things black boxy and distorted from use.

I simply close Oculus processes and restart and everything is back to normal.
