Those Serval's are big boys. 🙂 There are bound to be reports of big scary cats that turn out to be friendly domestic feline's... but how many of those reports truly are of the big cat scary variety?

In 2012 a lady was 10 metres away and estimated the size to be bigger than a labrador dog.

So, over thirty feet away, on the other side of a hedge, at night, in an unlit school yard, in a village in Wales (villages in Wales are in my experience not noted for their fantastic street lighting), she saw a black cat, which was not next to anything else which would allow a size comparison, but was able to estimate its size. Well, whilst not impossible, I'm inclined to think she just might have been mistaken, and that it was a big domestic cat.

Scotland 1980 a puma was captured in Inverness. And several other sightings in the UK.

1989 a jungle cat was hit by a car in Shropshire.

1991 a European Lynx was shot in Norfolk.

1994 a large cat with Leppard markings was shot on the Isle of White. Turned out to be an Oscelot.

1993 another Puma was captured in Scotland.

1996 a Caracol was shot by police in County Tyrone.

2001 in London a Lynx was captured by police.

So yes, there are big cats in the UK from time to time. As for the report you mention Chock, I agree, eye witness testimony is unreliable.

Its a bit like UFO reports, 95% are explainable, but a small percentage are worthy of investigation.
