January 16, 20215 yr To day I experienced CTD for the first time in 5.1. At startup the sim stops at 74% when the text changes to «Creating world wide weather». The screen twinkle for half a second and then it CTD. Everything was ok two days ago, and the only change I did on thursday was to update Envshade. I use Asp3d and Asca, but the sim crash both if I start it with or without the weather addon. Ihave also deleted shaders, and reinstalled client. I have seached forums for a solution, but I have not found anything. Does anyone have an advice what to do? Tor Arild
January 16, 20215 yr I'd start by deleting the shader files and let the sim rebuild-- Per Poppet: Your Shaders folder is located at the path below Local Disk (C:) ► Users ► You ► AppData ► Local ► Lockheed Martin ► Prepar3D ► Shaders To locate this folder, Insure the box is Ticked for Show hidden files, folders and drives in File Explorer Options Your Shaders folder (Graphical code) is a Generated folder, Meaning if you delete this folder it will Generate again when you Launch Prepar3D. The next time you launch Prepar3D the Shaders can take anything from 10 seconds to 2 \ 3 minutes to Generate again Your thread title...might be better off as "CTD at 74% load" because stock P3D 5.1 will not CTD at 74% load, and I'd bet your issue isn't P3D, but an add-on like EnvShade, or some bad combination of EnvShade + ASCA Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
January 16, 20215 yr I haven't seen it happen in quite a while, but a corrupt wxstationlist.bin file can do this. You might try moving it out of the C:/Users/.../AppData/Roaming/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v5 folder and let P3D build a new one. Also, changing your weather in ASP3D to force a rewrite of its weather files might not be a bad idea. If that does not work, uninstall ASP3D and reinstall it. Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
January 16, 20215 yr Author Thank you for quick replies. Before I started my topic, I had deleted the shaders, and also Asca clouds in the weather/ cloud folder. I have now tried a step by step test. First I unchecked the ASCA files in Envshade and redused some texture setting from 1024-512. Then I restarted my pc before I tried to start P3D again. This time it started as normal. I repeated it with ASP3D started before I started P3D and again everything went ok. From my point of view, I think my problem is related to a conflict between ASP3D/ASCA and ENVTEX textures. I have to check it more. Tor Arild
January 17, 20215 yr I've seen this during P3Dv5 beta... it happened to me. Go to your appdata folder for your P3D and delete volumetricclouds.cfg. That file will rebuild on your next startup of P3D. Hope this helps. Dan Downs KCRP
