January 17, 20215 yr Hi all, Now that I am trying the Prosim beta version over the Netherlands I have added a lot of freeware for the Netherlands (21 Gb) from Flightsim.to. I now experience the issue that as soon as the black loading screen appears after startup it remains black. Tried it 3 times and after 7 minutes still black. With just a few freeware it starts up very quickly. Is it normal that with 20+ Gb it might take a very long time ? Never had that with P3D so I do not know if this is normal behavior. All advices are welcome. regards, Gerard Edited January 17, 20215 yr by GSalden 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
January 17, 20215 yr You might need faster hdd. I have 130+ gb in my community folder and never had a problem with loading. Loading takes 2-3 minutes max to get to the world map. I'm using 2 1tb nvme m2 ssd

January 17, 20215 yr Hi Gerard - great to see you in MSFS for a change! Have you added all the MSFS folders to your anti-virus scanning exclusions?

Hi Adam, When flying I have no AV running. Yesterday I made 3 sightseeing flights over the Netherlands and everything worked great. OC situation. Today I have tried 2 times : first time with all freeware I had the black loading screen. Second time (no freeware) I was flying for 15 minutes and out of a sudden MSFS froze and after 20 sec it crashed to desktop. Fair weather situation. In the log I only see that MSFS.exe has crashed. More experienced MSFS flyers might know what to do.... ? January 17, 20215 yr It is possible that one of your freeware's is acting erratically. I'd recommend you use one of those addon manager utilities to uncheck (disable) each addon one by one until you can zero in on the specific addon that's causing these loading issues and remove it.

This will speed up your load times and help you find the problematic mods. MSFS

January 17, 20215 yr More than 70GB of stuff, mostly freeware, in my Community folder and the sim still loads almost normally. It certainly takes a bit more than in the beginning, with a lot fewer add-ons, but it never takes more than 1 minute in each of the screens during the startup process. Maybe I'm just lucky. Sometimes it takes hours to chase down the add-on that is causing trouble, but you have to do it. I installed days ago a freeware airport from Flightsim.to that inadvertently caused that all default airport objects (static aircraft, fuel tanks, trucks, ground people) were not displayed in the default airports and payware that use default objects. It took me one hour and a half to chase down the offending airport. Finally I was able to post the findings to the creator and he quickly addressed the issue with a fix the same day. These are the type of things we are exposed to when we download the lots of excellent stuff available for enjoyment from Flightsim.to or from any other similar site. By the way, Lorby-SI, the same developer that made it for P3D, has developed a MSFS version of its Add-on Organizer, already available as prototype. It maybe help. January 17, 20215 yr 18 GB in mine and no issues with loading at all. As FAZZ3 suggested, if you have a black loading screen, or freeze ups or crashes on start, something in your Community folder is likely not playing nice with the current sim version. Spilt your Community folder in half and load the sim with each half separately. Assuming there is only one problem mod, you will then immediately eliminate 50% of your mods. Then repeat with the the problem half, splitting in half. You will quickly isolate the gremlin - then either check for an update to that mod or delete it as a bad mod. A lot of that Netherlands flightsim.to stuff is Google imports. That can also be a problem as some modders do not optimize properly. It can also be very hard on FPS if you have large areas of it.
