Aerosoft A330 For FSX?

Featured Replies

Hello

I am still at fsx and wondering if there is a good a330 for fsx. I really like the Aerosoft A330 but unfortunately it is not for FSX. Does anyone of you know a good a330 or if aerosoft will release an A330 for fsx?

I use the Blackbox A330. Not brilliant but better than nothing. I got the Widebody pack which includes the A330-200/300 with all 3 engine types, the A340-300 and the A340-600, all for just over 40 Euros. They say they're going to update it soon and add the A330NEO and A340-200 and -500 but I'm not holding my breath.

If you absolutely have to have an A330 with a working FMC and most of the systems maybe have a look, you can install it and try it for free.

Otherwise the freeware Airbuses from Thomas Ruth are quite nice. But they basically use the default A321 VC.

The only 330 that I am aware of for FSX is available from Wilco Publishing. Aerosoft will not release one for FSX

Sadly there won't be any Aerosoft A330 for FSX. Furthermore, we don't even know Aerosoft will release something other than an A330-300 with RR engines for P3D4!

You saw both options posted here earlier: Wilco (compatible with FS9) or Blackbox (compatible with P3D4 and I think P3D5 too). I'll just say that I have both, and I purchased them almost 10 years apart.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

CLS (Commercial Level Simulations) also produce one for FSX but its' systems are poor and the FMC is essentially inoperative! Although I don't have it myself, I would suggest that the Blackbox version might be the best A330 you can get for FSX. However, from various comments I have read, it too doesn't seem to be perfect but at least it comes with a free trial option so you can see what it is like before you purchase it.

CLS, Blackbox A330's have good exterior models but the VC is pretty bad. I saw some pictures of it. And i think that there are not really going to be more new aircraft for FSX. Not even PMDG is planning to release another aircraft for FSX. Looks like the future is MSFS 2020 .

Thank you for your answers!

BBS 'Bus VC pretty bad? I would disagree:

Ignore the jpg resolution - that's just so I can upload to the screenshots forum without trying to use 5Mb bmps ! The BBS demo mode is time restricted, but that restriction resets each time you load up FSX.

Please don't. It's been stuck on prologue 0.87 for quite a while now!

To further add to BBS' defence - their Pre Flight Manager is IMHO excellent for inputting pax, cargo and fuel weights (it will give you a fuel load based on your departure and destination airports). Yes, I'm a fan despite having used the nice freeware Thom Ruth aircraft

Yeah the VC might not be amazing but it's not too bad. Much better than it once was. Especially the gorgeous lightsplashes at night. And the Preflight Manager is indeed quite nice.

I just wish the optimisation was better, and most of all the FDE with the weird behaviour during flare.

Oh, and the MCDU is virtually unchanged from the old PSS one lol
