ORBX Paris Landmarks

Featured Replies

The ORBX's version of Paris Landmarks has been released earlier today:

https://orbxdirect.com/product/landmarks-paris-msfs

The initial comments from the first users are mainly related to performance loss, compared to other complex scenery in the sim. ORBX had announced earlier this week that the product required further optimization before its release.

There's another version of Landmarks for the city of light, from a french developer, Prealsoft, available at SimMarket:

https://secure.simmarket.com/prealsoft-paris-landmarks-msfs.phtml

Waiting a bit before embarking in any of the two. Looks to me ORBX's version is more detailed, also with a lot of more landmarks.

I thought Orbx Singapore landmarks was announced first before Paris, why isn't that out yet?

I really wish Orbx would do regional packs to fix stock issues like bridges and missing power lines, RR tracks etc...

I would wish this, too, and already expressed this in their forum. However, there's a caveat. Suppose, ORBX decides to release a Norway LM package (where they have the assets), and 3 months later Asobo/MS come out with a World Update Norway rendering it useless.

And even with good will Asobo will probably not want to pinpoint which world updates they will bring at which point of time (or bring at all). That's not pure speculation, we'll see what will happen with the ORBX London Landmarks; according to their forum this is not yet clear.

Kind regards, Michael

Yes good point!

Maybe ORBX could just concentrate on the areas that have already received a pass by ABOSO for a World Update to further improve that region?

There's still lot's of room for improvement even after the updates.

Asobo has said these world updates won't be one and done, they plan on doing additional world updates to already updated areas down the line.

I imagine they want to get a bunch out first before going over the same areas again, so it could be a couple years before we see a USA Part 2 or anything like that.

So ORBX or another developer could release something in between those.

I don't think anyone of these Landmark sceneries (London, Paris, Chicago, Singapore, etc.) will be affected or rendered obsolete after the Asobo world updates (UK, USA, etc.). Look for example to Chicago Landmarks by Drzewiecki Design (apart from the current CTD and mesh issues that are under investigation), which is able to render downtown Chicago to its fulness, way better than the photogrammetry representation of the same area, and still the performance impact is minimal.

At least according to ORBX' Holger Sandmann it's not yet clear how ORBX London Landmarks and the UK World Update are going to interplay.

They certainly have to implement some fixes after the World Updates, but that's not the end of the world according to what he says.
