Newly found water anomalies

Featured Replies

Observed these during a flight yesterday.  These are along the Colorado River, seen westbound nearing Grand Canyon West airport (KGCW/GCW).  One is color.  The other is elevation.  The airport location is coming into view in the second shot just ahead of the left wing.  The red water was a few nm earlier.

I agree with the elevation error, but color is fine... rivers and streams change color depending on many factors and the make up of the sediment/contaminant present.

The red could easily be a high presence of iron due to run off from a recent rain event, for instance...

Psshh.

You should check out the St Lawrence River between Ontario and New York.  Now there's a screwed up piece of water.

Are these reported to the Devs?  Just wonder if there's much benefit in having them here?

I believe its one of the global types of situations where the devs are painfully aware there are issues with the water, terrain, etc. and while reporting every minute (funny how minute and minute are spelled the same, but pronounced totally different and have completely different meanings....crazy English and their heteronyms) situation is indeed important, after a while it just seems....tedious and unnecessary.

Please feel free to take on the task yourself...I'm sure the folks here mentioning these things would appreciate it. 😉

To answer your obviously rhetorical question about having them here has much benefit....well....I shouldn't really answer a rhetorical question unless I'm only trying to be more snarky than you. 😉 🤣

Let's snark together brother! 🙂  I get it, to be fair.  Frustration boils over.  But I've just done a wonderful few legs in a new Scottish bush tour (checkout the freeware) and I've got spikes like Stargate pyramids in the middle of a bloody Loch and I still don't feel the need to tell Avsim about it.  But I know YMMV! 🙂

Oh brother don't get me started on spikes!

The good news that I've formulated on my own that it is definitely related to water....as EVERY spike I've seen thus far has always been attached to water....even if its a puddle when you get close enough to see it....of course LOD controls a lot of it as they come and go at various distances...I feel good knowing that since its related to such a global thing...once they fix it...its fixed over the entire world. 🙂

And venting here about silly issues in flightsim that are driving us nuts is a long established right of passage that I've enjoyed for decades here...just a few more years than you (2002 alum here...I see you're 2007)

In fact....I was going to rage here about the spikes I saw enroute of one of my most relaxing journeys....Santa Barbara (KSBA) to Burbank (KBUR) with both airports from Orbx installed....that with the stunning California mountains...just a glorious ride...but....

This abomination pops up...ruining it.

You can see I even included the coords and a map depicting exactly where I was for the Devs to view and say "EUREEKA! Steve has given us the golden screenshot that finally allows us to crush this bug" (hehe...ok that was all in my mind but hey....a guy can dream that he was the reason they fixed this bug, hehe).

Of course in reality.....they've probably gotten hundreds of screens like this, know what the issue is already (globally)...and hopefully will fix it soon.

This particular one just pops up in the distance and as you get closer. gradually subsides back into the natural scenery...and when you fly directly over it...you see....wait for it....a water feature.  As I flew more and more and keep seeing these things everywhere....I noticed that sure enough...when you got close...water was there....like I said even a tiny pond.

Anyway.....I sure raged about it for a while! 🤣  I'm better now...according to my therapist. 😉
