February 11, 20215 yr Hello folks, I'm told that we can create our own user waypoints and one of the ways is by using a lat/lon format. My question is; what is the easiest way to obtain that data? In FSX, one could go into slew mode and the lat//lon would be displayed. But I am unaware of how to do it with this new sim. Thanks in advance! https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file
February 11, 20215 yr You could use Google Maps or Bing Maps... In Google Maps, left click on a point on the map. At the bottom of the screen should be a pop-up with the lat/long in decimal format. In Bing Maps, right click on a point on the map. A pop-up will appear with the lat/long at the bottom in decimal format, with a handy "copy" link. Hope that helps, ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.
February 11, 20215 yr The easiest way (in my opinion) is to use an external tool like LittleNavMap. If you define custom waypoints there and export to a MSFS flight plan, then you can load in that flight plan. I think you may also be able to type a lat/long pair directly into the search bar on the World Map and the World Map will define that as a custom point. Not sure of the exact text formatting needed though, decimal vs degrees/min/sec, etc. Edited February 11, 20215 yr by marsman2020 AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals
February 11, 20215 yr Additional to the above, if there is a landmark you wish to visit, you could also look it up on Wikipedia - there is usually a link to co-ordinates at top right of the screen which will take you to GeoHack. At top right of that screen, you will find co-ordinates in 'Decima;' format. Copy and paste those into the search bar on the MSFS map screen and you will be shown its location. February 11, 20215 yr If you are using the Working Title CJ4 with the latest 'mod'. You can select POS INIT on the FMC and it will give you your current position. Here are some videos by one of the developers explaining various user entered waypoints. https://www.youtube.com/user/K20017/videos John
February 11, 20215 yr LittleNavMap make that very easy to do. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

So, using that option, I flew outbound from an airport (LSZS) and paused the sim at each waypoint I wanted to make, writing down each lat/lon. After calculating the crossing altitudes, I was able to "create" an IFR approach to a field that didn't previously have one. Now, if there was only a way to compile those waypoints together and be able to access them as a selectable approach without having to enter each ten digit waypoint... https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file
February 12, 20215 yr LittleNavMap has a 'create approach' option that will create approach waypoints for any runway as well, even if it doesn't have an instrument approach. I've used this to land my Bonanza on a grass strip in Alaska with < 200 ft of visibility! It would be neat if the CJ had the ability to recall a custom approach from a text file or something like that. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

Does it allow you to create a path that is curved, or at least, not straight in? https://www.mediafire.com/view/dz3buh31pti9cej/BoeingDriverSignature.jpg/file
February 12, 20215 yr Ahhhh the good ol days of FSX, when you could create a plan and then just grab the course line and drag it to where you want. So darn simple a cave man could do it! Jay

I just did a flight from CYXU (London Ont, Canada) to CYUL (Montreal). I created the plan using Simbrief and imported it into the WT CJ4 mod. I also exported the Simbrief plan as a MSFS2020 plan then imported it into Little Nav Map. I then added the CYUL 24L HABBS5 arrival into LNM, however the route is not curved, just point to point straight lines. Hope this helps? John
