February 24, 20215 yr Lightning is dangerous, when it strikes, a tremendous amount of heat is transferred to the struck object. That heat is sufficient to turn liquid water into water vapor in a fraction of a second. February 25, 20215 yr Acouple of years ago lightning struck the big pecan tree in our back yard. It left a scar down the tree and shot the bark through a window in our sun room. The room was full of shredded bark and glass. We were watching TV that evening and it sounded like an explosion. It told Betty that one was close. Didn't realize how close until the following morning when I went outside. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

March 1, 20215 yr Author What's fascinating is that from the cloud emerges a "stepped leader" it snakes down from the cloud but doesn't contact the ground.
