The hardware is called “a 2080TI”.

I previously posted a test with your wishlist - Flightbeam KSFO, PMDG, Orbx - with sliders not in the middle, but all the way to the right. Every single one. Prepar3d handled it with aplomb.

The 2070 Super I'm using because I can't get anything better is 86% of the thruput of 2080Ti.  So no, I don't believe it for a second, the aplomb.  Post a VIDEO of the landing and let's see how that goes, sliders in the middle is fine.

O yes. Confirmed. RTX3090 all sliders to the right 100% AI, every shadow turned on stable +30FPS  at 4k 32 inch monitor.

Sliders mid\right and VR on in P3D windowed mode I get 32 to 45 FPS in reverb G2 with 150%SS in steam and 2xmsaa in P3D V5.x with PMDG 747 and 777 or QW787 at KSFO with ORBX TE products within Cockpit and more fps in outside views.

P3D v5.x has gained performance and has gained FPS stability.

Ok sounds better for sure, I still have a hard time seeing it.  Let's see one video is all.

Why you do not get 5.1 try it and if you are not satisfied return the licence and get a refund?

This costs you some time to  download and 30 minutes of installation and test.

Youtube is full of it.

P3D v5.1 is a very different approach compared to 4.5. Also shadows do NOT have any noticeable impact anymore on good hardware. This was different at 4.5.

I flew into KSFO the other day w/ all sliders left, had tons of GPU headroom left, and my CPU was hammered at 100%, so shadows played no role in it.   Orbx NCA leaves it unflyable in 4.5 at 5Ghz all cores.

Well, I was able to run the 737NGX into FB KSFO with Orbx NCA with no problems with FPS or stutters.

Here are a couple of suggestions on how to improve performance when over NCA or SCA:

A Ryzen CPU with more cache (and usually more cores) helps.

Plus, as already pointed out, v5 is a lot more performance friendly than v4.

I currently use TE NorCal and my only performance restriction is keeping VRAM use down.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

I think it's really important to remember that P3D doesn't have to look ugly. No, you don't have to "turn out the lights"! But P3D is a platform to add things to - that's the design ethos. LM have spent very little time upgrading the default landclass, and don't provide wide-scale orthoscenery with the sim.

So a "pretty" P3D v5 is not an "out of the box" experience like MSFS, but it's certainly possible to make it look nice. I don't only fly P3D because of the vastly superior aircraft. I also genuinely prefer the view out the cockpit window while cruising, when using ortho + EA + VR.

From FL300 it's not too bad is it, or FL050 when you're looking at water?  Even Orbx regionals don't even half compare.  Here's what it's up against, which is presumably only possible in TE at this juncture:Dev-Mode.png

You guys are a little lazy.....To be honest

The first video aptly demonstrates massively reduced graphic settings and low resolution textures!  Sure, I can make it work if I move most of the sliders, AA/AF down well below where I have them set.  On to video two...

We see 'maxed graphic settings in the 777' to Hong Kong.  This is a massive stutter fest and there is not even an FPS counter.  Let's see #3 now...

#3, same same.

I'd like to see something w/ enough information to make the case, and these don't.  Put AF at 16x, AA at least 4XSSAA,. terrain quality.

This is beside the point anyway.  I've made peace w/ the pig by flying in low light conditions and it's just great.

I don't need any better performance because I fly from pre-dusk to post-dawn, when scenery quality hardly matters save the airport and the NGXu/777 I'm in.  All graphic driver settings maxed out for crisp edges.  Terrain distance maxed.  Just sparse objects, and that's fine.  I've, of course, seen KSFO-HD w/ NCA maxed out and it still does not hold a candle to reality because it is what it is, land class and art work.  I'm not going to spend $$ on TE for one region, or two.  I fly all over the place in P3D.  In fact my daily habit is to plan a flight in the evening in P3D, heading west typically so as to keep lighting close to when P3D looks the best, and it looks great at dusk/dawn w/ lovely sky colors, night lighting just coming up, and so forth.  In fact I flew out of KDFW last dusk, landed in KPHX-HD, and it was fabulous.  Form there, it was up to Telluride CO in the lovely TBM930.  I often do airliner flights in Europe as well, then explore reality w/ MSFS.  Works very well for me.  I have the best of both worlds.  The OP was looking for insights from different people, and everyone is diffferent w/ regard to what works for them.  If and when MSFS is able to run PMDGware and FSCaptain & GSX (all three devs in line to do it) then I see no reason whatsoever for a future in P3D for me.

OK, this has devolved into yet another "Tastes Great!  LESS FILLING!!", "My sim is better than your sim" food fight.
