Can confirm that setting terrain LOD under 100 is helpful. I brought it back to 80 and actually was able to fly a nice traffic pattern in the JF Arrow where before it was unflyable. I tried 100 as well and it did seem to work but my frames were a little lower (30 vs 40). I am also trying the Tree fix from the Blog site and the trees using LOD 80 are visible out to about 7 miles. You can see them popping due to the reduced LOD but it was at least flyable for the first time since the update. March 11, 20215 yr Author Well another day spent testing and testing and testing. I use paid addon airports 90% of the time. I wanted to do some touch and goes to try to enjoy the new Arrow. I sat there looking at my screen and was at the point of giving up. The stutters and teen FPS was so bad. I was at Orbx KSBA as I thought this was a bit out of the way and could be fine, wrong, it was so bad. I had spent 1 hour at this airport trying all setting but nothing worked a total mess. But then for no reason I looked around in drone view and noticed the runway did not look right, it looked like in some places the default. So... I deleted it from Orbx centre and reinstalled it to the same Orbx folder it was installed in the first place, looked into my community folder and that one Orbx airport was now different from all other Orbx airports. All was installed the same way, but the reinstall airport had the shortcut type all the others were main folder types. How could this be? So I loaded up the sim and to KSBA with the M20, The sim was perfect, CPU at 90% GPU 80%, RTSS set to 30 FPS. Did 5 touch and goes all perfect, no stuttering no nothing, it was like magic. Is it to good to be true? The wife wanted me to spend time with her so I had to stop. I will look more into this tomorrow. First thing I will do is try KSBA and the M20 again and see if it is still back to normal, if so, I will uninstall every airport and reinstall. The Orbx ones take second as there installed out side the sim, but on a final note, the odd looking runway was now also back to looking perfect. Good night. David Murden. March 11, 20215 yr Kind of makes sense, that's why I was saying maybe a reinstall. 3 Updates ago they did something which caused me to have to re-export all my objects, hence the files for the airport I am building would not load any objects. I could have probably fixed it in the XML (maybe), but I figured now was a good time to get rid of unused objects anyhow and clean it up. Still don't know why my taxiways are not visible in dev mode though. Edited March 11, 20215 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
March 12, 20215 yr Some of the worst areas are so easily repeatable. If I take off from Orcas heading North and frame rates are fine, circle the island on the East side and it's fine. Come back into land and without fail my frame rates half and stutter as soon as I have gone round the southern Eastern tip. They stay like that until I am just about to land and then go back to being silky smooth. Empty community folder or full community folder, low settings / high settings lead to exactly the same result. @nyxx Funnily enough when I loaded Orcas (Orbx) yesterday I had exactly the same situation, runway did not look right at all. Reinstalled and looked fine again. However, I still had exactly the same issue as I described above when testing it and even uninstalling Orcas completely made no difference at all. Having said all that, there have been multiple places I have tried today where I have had perfectly fine frame rates with no stutter. It's like there are patches of scenery that just kill performance for no obvious reason at all. When all is working at intended I get around 45fps with no stutter on a gync monitor. Look to empty blue sky and I go to my frame rate limit of 72. In a stuttering area I am getting a stuttering 18-28fps and if I look to the sky it remains at the low frame rates.
