December 23, 200619 yr Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to keep the "Show ATC text" checkbox turned off in FSX?I can turn it off but the next time I launch it's back on again. Is this a bug or do I possibly have an issue going on?Thanks!!!
December 23, 200619 yr Hi,I think FSUIPC has a item you can click to supress all single line messages. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW

December 23, 200619 yr Author Nothing has been changed with the default flight. It's setup however it ships with. Actually, I don't even know how to change the default flight with FSX. It doesn't look to be the same as FS9.
December 23, 200619 yr Hi,I went to the FSUIPC manual and found the following:Message Window OptionsFSUIPC4 provides support for a message window in the style of the in-built FS ATC window. This will display only multi-line messages sent to FSUIPC4, such as (and particularly) the Radar Contact menu window.Options concerning the FSUIPC4 message window appear on the About/Register screen, which is available to all FSUIPC4 users. The feature may already automatically be enabled when FS is first loaded, but it can be turned on and off (to use only ShowText for example) in the front option screen. December 24, 200619 yr Author I found that option but unfortunately it doesn't fix my problem. So, I went into the FSX.cfg file and found the entry for "ShowATCText" and changed it from a 1 to a 0. That still didn't fix it!Here's what happens... I go to the General settings window, uncheck the Show ATC text option, go to any other window, come back to the General settings window and the check mark is back. For whatever reason I can't get this to stay off. Even when editing the FSX.cfg file. I don't get it.
December 24, 200619 yr Hi,First off, I was thinking about the single line messages for Radar Contacts messages and FSUIPC options for single line options in FS9.Sorry about that!I have ATC messages ON in FSX ... I am just testing it now.I went to C: documents and settings myname application data microsoft FSX and found the CFG file.I changed the show atc text from 1 to a 0Started FX and ATC messages did not show up.Went to General and checked the box for ATC and the messages started scrolling by again. So, it works. It is like FX is reading the wrong CFG file on you system!I will poke around and see if I can somehow reproduce your symptom on my installation of FX. I don't get it.If you are trying to edit the fsx.cfg file without exiting FSX first, then your efforts are wasted......as FSX will write a new fsx.cfg file whenever you close the sim.All editing must be done before launching FSX... ;) Fr. December 24, 200619 yr Author I WAS out of the sim before opening the .cfg file.My understanding is 1 = true and 0 = false.
December 24, 200619 yr Yes,1 = YES0 = NoYou did use a zero "0" and not the letter O ?How many hard drives do you have?Do a search of you hard drivefor FSX.cfgYou should have only one with that name. You may find a shortcut or two to it but only one should be on your drive(s). Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
December 25, 200619 yr Author Yes, a zero.Only one FSX.cfg file. Not saving the setting itself is bad enough. But manuall changing the .cfg file and it STILL not working... I don't get it.
December 25, 200619 yr I've got the same identical problem & as yet have found no solution. Hope someone here can.Jim
December 25, 200619 yr search all your drives for .cfg files.... I'm thinkin there must be a dup somewhere....
