Better performance after server failure

Featured Replies

My flights today have been smoother than ever. I think i have had a few fps more than usual. And less stutter. Maybe it was the drm server that caused the slowdown of cpu and gpu that I had before.

I think (and have said since the beginning) the the performance and stability of the sim is highly dependent on the servers and connection to the servers.

I have nice performance right now also.

System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

My performance wasn't bad last night either- still a little glitchy but better. I've always suspected this was a server or pipeline problem- it didn't feel like the traditional stutters and pauses we usually go through from time to time.

I also think it’s a server connection issue. Got the stuttering today in the main window when selecting the plane, not during the flight.

Scary to me that our future system has so much dependence on external factors. Right?

Can't be the servers only. At least the dreadful 3 fps-regions (like this Bishop airport) don't get better when I fly without online data.

I had two very smooth flights yesterday - like the good old days of about 10 days ago. But as soon as I was 1000' over Farnborough EGLF the rig tanked as feared and expected.

So I deduce that although the servers were behaving themselves yesterday and serving nicely - and we got smooth flights and scenery delivery - the location-specific Bug remains in MSFS regardless.

Performance report today.

Flying SKBG-SKMD scattered storms in modded TBM and WT G3000.

Average at airport of origin 40fps+, in the air 19-25fps. Do-able but not great, not completely smooth; some stutters, mostly slight. Drop to 12-17 fps as we progressed, maybe near storm cells? Limited by main thread. One episode of severe stutters (~1 rhythmic stutter per sec) set in after 25mins - still at cruise, 10-13fps. Lasted several minutes then reverted to around 16-21fps.

On approach and landing, thick cloud and poor visibility: uncomfortable and choppy at times,14-20fps. On the ground 30+fps; epic landing in literally 0 visibility using only the synthesised landscape view. FPS was enough to be able to to this on short final.

This at 2k res on a 4690k @4.4GHz, GTX1080 Ti, 32Gb RAM Win 10 Pro PC. ULTRA Clouds, 16x AF, 8xSupersampling, Render sc 100, TLD 160, OLD 170...

But no CTDs in any flight thankfully. I do think G3000 has a big impact on fps esp the modded one.
