Way back when, if I touched the yoke while taxiing my instructor would slap my hand.  😁

Your kidding. Your instructor did not correct for wind conditions when taxiing??

Good to know, thanks. But how do you manage speed whilst not fowling the plugs? Is 1400rpm too high? Do you ride the brakes?

What keeps plugs from fouling is lean as much as possible.RPM has nothing to do with it.

Should RPM be reduced for taxi or is it correct to taxi with the rpm (blue) lever all the way forward?

RPM full forward is like low gear in a car.

Thanks, I like that analogy, helps explain why once airborne the RPMs are reduced.

Does that apply when taxiing as well or is it usually left at full rpm for taxi?

Full for taxi.

I should have added that if it was windy out that was a different thing.  Then you did use the yoke to counter the wind effects.    The initial lesson was to stop the natural tendency to 'steer' the plane with the yoke.  😊

I checked the RPM in the Arrow tonight while taxiing. With 1000-1100 RPM the taxi speed was around 15 knot which is actually a bit fast for some FAA examiners in an aircraft like the Arrow. At 1400 rpm, I felt like you could almost reach flying speed. When I was taxiing at times I would bring the idle to around 800 rpm, which is  the idle speed after the last update, to keep speed under control and not have to wear out the brakes.

Yes, even after patch 2.0, same happens to me.

I posted this in the preview thread as well, but since this is about problems with this version in particular it made sense to put it here, too.

If anyone's been hesitant to make the change suggested to fix the whiskey compass, or just doesn't want the hassle, I've created a tiny little mod that does it for you.  It's right here, just drag and drop into Community.
