You can enable it, change the weather and disable it immediately after. The same with all other buttons.

I'd advise against that one, it makes more changes than it needs to and, if it's not been updated since I tried it, using it will mask at least one of the icons that's been added since release.

I created this version, which has a much smaller footprint on the sim and it's worked fine with every update that's come out so far:

What happens if you only disable some options, the ones you don't normally use? Is there still a slight gain? I'm trying this as I like to keep the weather tab available.

Didn’t see much FPS change but certainly a reduction in stutters in problem areas when I disabled the vfr map. Haven’t tried the others yet tbh.
