Comunity folder

Featured Replies

Hi all
I bought the Just Flight PA 28 last night and love it so far.
I found the document folder and tried to copy it so I can view the manual on my laptop whilst flying.  However, Windows will not let me copy any files from the community folder (even though I am the sole person who uses the PC and the administrator)

Is there a way I can do this.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Best wishes
Bob

Rename the community folder, copy what you need, then change the name back to community.

Why should he have to do that?

Hi

I tried renaming the community folder but I still cant copy the document folder it says Your organization does not allow you to place this file here.

Please note

I am the sole user of this computer and the administrator

also all the files in this folder have little padlock symbols on them?

Thanks in advance if you can help

It must be due to some settings in Windows, I can copy and move the file as I wish.

BTW, Did you buy it from Market Place? If you did, I think it is encrypted and locked, I can send you the file if you will, just send me a PM.

See the original post.

Zip the file up, then you can copy this zipped file out to another location. You will probably get a prompt about moving without encryption so just accept this.

That doesn't answer my question. I copied the manual out of my community folder with no problem and I use Windows.  Why can't the OP do that??

right click doc, properties, advanced, remove tick encryption,ok,remove read only.  Do  not close properties page, then  you can copy/paste doc. Once you close properties it will

return to read only/encrypted.

A better solution is to use  an add on linker, I have tried to find whereand why win 10 auto encrypts this folder without success. Hope this helps

The JF Arrow files are not encrypted.

Hi all

@quart54 Thanks that worked.

@Bobsk8 I also have no clue as to why ALL the files in my community folder have become encrypted as most of them are from various freeware people across the community

Strange indeed

I also have no clue as to how to remove the encryption.

Best wishes

Bob

I'm pretty sure that op is not using win10 home which does not have efs built in. Msfs above standard contains encrypted

files. I suspect that the community folder somehow is marked as "system" file and automatically files added to it are

encrypted. There is away to remove the encryption but a lot of times  it creates more problems than it's worth. That's why I suggested using an add on linker is the best solution

This is absolutely correct. Placing files directly into the Community folder encrypts them.  What I used to do is go through all of the files in the add-on before installing and remove all readmes, manuals, etc. and store them in a different place for reference. Now, like you, I use AddonsLinker and can access any of the files I wish at any time.

Everyday I am reminded why Steam is so much better than the MS store. None of this nonsense with Steam. So glad I did not go the MS store route. Partly the same reason I will never buy an add on through the store.
