Good Piston Twins For P3D v5

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any decent piston twins that work well in Prepar3d version 5? Any of the great ones from Milviz or Alabeo or Carenado. Has anyone tried one only listed for version 4 and had success?

Thanks

Piston twins? - Light, medium or heavy? Quite a few really!

The only piston light twin I have bothered with is the Carenado AC500 - works fine in P3DV5. Cannot comment on the rest flown most of them for real AC500 was always top of the pops. The Beech Baron BE58 and Be55 were pretty good planes to fly but have not seen a decent one yet for P3DV5. Cessna 310 not my cup of tea. Have been tempted to try the Carenado C337.

Medium piston twins:

FSAddons Lockheed Hudson and their Avron Anson are ok I think you can still buy it but the business is now shut).

There is of course the Electra 10 that came with P3D.

Virtavia Grumman Albatross,

Ozx's Grumman Goose,

FlySimulations Grumman Widgeon,

Milton Schupes Grumman Mallard

Heavy piston twins:

Manfred Jahn C-47

FS Adoons Bristol Freighter

Aerosoft PBY Catalina

George Diemers Sikorsky S-43.

Dave Garwood's Bristol Beaufighter

Just Flights de Havilland Mosquito, Dave Garwood's Mosquito.

Milton Schupes Boston/Havoc

Everything else I have in the sim is either turbine powered or 4 engines!

Would you happen to know if my favorite, the Cessna 421C works? I have the Bernt Stoll FDE on it.

From milviz, I have Baron B55 working, an oldie but goldie 😎

The 310 redux is working as is the Comanche twin or “Twinkie” as they call it.

They require the new version of true glass and true light to be installed available in orbx central. Also you will need Xmltools64 installed. Although B55 does not need those.

Aerosoft Twin Otter is also working again you need xmltools64 installed. This is a turbine though.

Unfortunately on P3D V5.1 the Cessna 421C cockpit (panel) textures don't show correct, everything else is OK.

I guess then I will just have to enjoy my Golden Eagle in 4 or FSX-SE if I need a fix. It's a great twin 🙂🙂🙂

Thanks for the info guys

Bert,

I just did a new, fresh install and I'm facing the same issue. Again, which version of P3D do you have?

I'm at loss here, they say that it works up to version 4 on P3D.

Thanks.

OK.. what you are running into here, is carenado/alabeo's copy protection.

You need to "install", select P3D, V4, and then Browse to your P3DV5 folder and select that location.

Each of these steps is required.

Then confirm Install and off you go.

Here is just one of many threads here at Avsim discussing these issues. It describes exactly what Bert is saying but may be worth a look.

Thank you so much!

I was selecting V5 direct bypassing v4 and than V5.

Much appreciated.
