I guess MS have cottoned on to the fact that they are losing out on big bucks by operating 10 as a service.

There has been some rumors about it being a free upgrade, but I'm guessing it will end up having some cost to upgrade, if an upgrade route is possible.  Who knows, it might be so ground breaking that it will require a clean install.

Well this user will stay with 10 for as long as possible including after support runs out. Only when I need a new PC and 11 ships with it will I reluctantly change. I suppose the CE must be down to his last hundred million and is feeling the pinch.

Exactly! I'm seeing differing opinions on the internet regarding whether they will charge or not. Guess we will have to wait for the event on the 24th.

But yes. I will stick with 10 I think.

I suspect it will only be free if you get It whilst it’s in beta and you test it for them. They get loads of mugs to do their work for them. I can remember the debacle when 10 was released in beta. I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.

Dealing with a new operating system and new technology keeps me mentally sharp. I'm at the age where my parents started refusing to learn new things (because the status quo was "better") and unfortunately for them they are still alive 40 years later in an almost unrecognizable world.

Even if it means a few steps backwards the payoff is well worth it.
