July 2, 20214 yr Ground effect people. Flies just above the ocean. 40 mins from Portsmouth to Cherbourg. Six times faster than a sea ferry and all electric. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-hampshire-57483039 Edited July 2, 20214 yr by martin-w
July 3, 20214 yr Wonder what the cost per passenger ticket will be compared to that of a traditional ferry using internal combustion engines? My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 3, 20214 yr Author Well you would have to compare it with a ferry with the same passenger capacity, so 150. Not seen any figures but it is going to be highly efficient, low drag and riding in ground effect. And electric motors are of course, exceeding 90% and in the lab 99.05% has been achieved. Diesel engines in a ferry are only about 41% efficient and they experience drag in the water. Given the above, I would think ticket price would be reasonable. And of course Brittany Feries wouldn't be going ahead if they thought it wasn't affordable. Edited July 3, 20214 yr by martin-w
