It's an alpha, true, but based on what we've seen I'd be surprised if this dragged into 2022. Aamir kept silent for 2 years. I don't think he'd unveil his project with another year of dev time remaining. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I’ve been trying to work out the release myself based on what we’ve seen so far. Aamir mentioned the flight model needs some work still to get it to that accurate level they want.. the systems we’ve seen so far look incredibly far along already, seems the alpha team are bug reporting so I wonder if there is many features missing at this point… I think end of sept mid/ November but obviously purely speculating here.

If the Fenix is released soon, he would have to give a date because of pmdg. At least if it comes in the next few months. This is my thought.

Yeah... looks like a matter of months to me as well... but as you never know what comes along, they chose to stay safe and don't give out a timeframe yet. OK, that sounds intereseting as I am always interested in aerodynamics stuff. 🙂 Where and in which context did he mention that? They also said that they are still working on 3D modeling as well. Basically that the flight model is at a point where it’s (not sure the word he used) but it was ok, acceptable but still needs some work to get it accurate, after all it’s still in alpha and these guys clearly want to get that right. Would of explain the focus on systems rather than flying in the videos maybe, pure speculation of course.

I have the feeling that they want to get reed of any constraints from MSFS2020 regarding the systems, aerodynamics, weather, sounds. MSFS 2020 is here just for the external visual reference.
