Thrustmaster HOTAS One now available again in UK

Featured Replies

Amazon have it for £99.99 but Box.co.uk have it for £79.99 with free delivery by Friday. Have used Box many times in past.

EDIT To be clear the HOTAS One is the one that you need to work on XBOX for the new XBOX version of MSFS coming out later this month. The HOTAS One version has been pretty much unobtainable new until today.

Great!  I loved my old one but it died on me a few months ago (after quite a few years of use).

What is the difference between the HOTAS X and this cheaper one they have on sale?  I cant seem to find a difference except the colour.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

@bobcat999 The HOTAS One is Xbox compatible. The Hotas X is Playstation compatible I think, or at least they do a Playstation compatible version. Both work on PC anyway, the differences are just if they'll work with a gaming console too.

Excellent.  Thanks for your reply.  I just googled some info on this and it confirms what you say.  I might as well buy the cheaper version then.

I've got a HOTAS X and I rate it, it's a good purchase (was even better value a few years ago as I got mine for under £50!). The only really issue I have is the cable between the joystick and throttle is not all that long. And it would be nice to have twin throttles. Otherwise it seems sturdily built, has a nice feel and plenty of buttons. Using the "paddle" on the throttles for rudder is better than twisting the stick too.

I found this too.  I liked mine until it died.

Although it was quite old, I suspect I have developed a dodgy USB port, as the same one took out a USB stick as well, maybe a coincidence, but I have taped over the port now in case I forget! .

The only issue I had with the old one was that the throttle went a bit floppy, no friction, so it would fall open or closed if I didn't keep my hand on it, with no way to increase the friction.

I have actually just bought the cheaper Hotas-X now from Box.  With VAT and special delivery, it did push it up to about £75.  I saw some at over £120 though when the squeeze was on!  Scalpers everywhere - I am surprised I have any hair left!  😀.  RTX3080's are still stupid prices - this is the only other thing on my wish list at the moment.

Yes, I am just selling my ps4 version only because I want to use the same device on my Series X as well as my gaming PC. I would not be selling it and very happy with it if MS had not announced the XBOX release. I am very happy indeed to be getting the same device but with the XBOX security chip. I somehow don't think MSFS is going to be released for PS5 which I also have!!!

So it sounds like the inclusion of the Xbox security chip and maybe additional licencing is adding the extra cost to the Hotas-One compared to the Hotas-X.  I didn't realise that.
That extra button with the Xbox logo on comes at a price.   But I understand your logic - If I had an Xbox, I would probably do the same.

Yep the HOTAS X is the PS3/PC version so if you are only going to use for PC then it is an easy choice based on price as the One version adds nothing for use on a PC.

I got a three metre USB extension for mine and it works fine. Only about $20 AUD plus fuel to the store. Three metres plus the metre and a half of the one they provided is just right for my Xbox room.

I got mine only a few weeks ago and I found the stick had a friction adjustment knob on the bottom of it, so maybe they'll add one for the throttle one day. You would have to repurchase of course, but they're not that dear I thought, and seem to be pretty solidly built.

On my model the cable is not detachable at either end, they're permanently connected together

Yes, I think that Highmike has misinterpreted your comment - the cable between throttle and joystick is captive. It is only the cable from the stick to the xbox that you can easily extend which is not relevant to your issue.

CJ

Ah yes, ha ha. I did misread your post, yeah that cable is not replaceable.

As ckyliu said The HOTAS X is for Play station 3. But the one you linked to is the HOTAS X JOYSTICK, which is different from the HOTAS X. Because it is for PS3 too but is only the joystick (without the throttle). Which is why it is so cheap.

For Xbox you want the HOTAS ONE, and make sure it shows the stick and the throttle too in the picture.

Four pages of flight controls on the TM website.

I think the TM Warthog is the best HOTAS for PC version MSFS. Although most probably want a yoke and throttle quadrant instead of a HOTAS for PC Windows MSFS.
