Has anybody noticed performance issues with DC-6 after SU5?

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

I have updated my PMDG DC-6 to the latest version that is compatible with SU5. However, I have noticed kinda of big hit in the FPF (e.g 25) whereby FBW latest dev I would get 40 under the same conditions. Has anyone noticed this?

Thanks

Frames seem OK, but there are other issues. Poor texture quality in the VC is my biggest complaint, and PMDG is aware of it, but needs Asobo to fix the situation. Also in pre start with the AFE, it hangs up with a spinning dial in the GPS unit that you have to stop with your mouse, or it will not go further in the checklist.

Yes for me too. I believe the FPS gain is more for glass-cockpits, so that's why. However I still gained about 10 FPS (from 25 to 35) on the DC-6.

There's a post about this on the PMDG forum.

When we received our test builds last week, all of us were seeing FPS increases greater than 100% across a couple of builds. Then we got the build that went public on Tuesday, FPS had returned to their original score levels. Most of us on the dev team saw overall performance decline to just slightly above the last public release version.

So- we have no idea... But our hope is that whatever tanked the performance gains we were seeing last week gets corrected in a subsequent build by Asobo. The performance we WERE seeing was spectacular. The performance all of us are seeing in the public version is lukewarm at best.

By the way, since we were talking about that earlier: I definitely do not have any texture degradation on the DC-6, it looks as good as ever. What's your texture quality setting? Mine is "Ultra", resolution 2k. Maybe they changed the impact of the texture quality setting on VCs...? I reckon PMDG acknowledged the issue, but as I said, it didn't affect me.

Interesting, thanks for sharing! I hope whatever issue is that gets rectified either in Asobo side or PMDG side. The performance issues with DC-6 are bit annoying though

AFE get stuck but other than that not much fps improvements (may be little)

I cured AFE by fighting him for a knob control! LOL
