July 29, 20214 yr Is it just me who thinks that the quality of the clouds has degraded after the patch? They look more like medium on ultra settings after the patch. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
July 29, 20214 yr You're not alone, in VR they look exactly as you said, Ultra looks like Medium pre update yet there's still an FPS hit (Live Weather, not tried custom yet) Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
July 29, 20214 yr The clouds are dismal now - poorly defined, incorrect shading, no sense of volume. This is a huge disappointment! But - I am seeing a nice increase in FPS running almost everything Ultra - even landing at KSAN with the LatinVFR addon. AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking

No, not just you. They are the one area of the sim that has very noticeably degraded. It's the only part of the graphics changes that feels like a big step back for me.
July 29, 20214 yr Author I hope we get the opportunity to improve image quality in the future, I'm willing to sacrifice 10 fps for better quality. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
July 29, 20214 yr It may be the change in rendering appearance is down to Xbox using DX12. Once PC is on DX12 we may get the extra fidelity back. Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.
July 29, 20214 yr I certainly hope so Donka. They look terrible since the update. Asobo promised us that they hadn't downgraded anything, but it seems clear that they were being somewhat untruthful. Edited July 29, 20214 yr by cianpars Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
July 29, 20214 yr Asobo did mention certain things should be different under DX12 including the likes of the grainy shadows that we see on aircraft and in clouds. I'm wondering if this is related i.e. a different way to render detail using DX12 so what we had on PC has been removed as part of the core build and it will improve in DX12. I guess seeing how clouds look on Xbox X would give us a better idea. Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.
